100% agree. Its strange to think of everything in the bigger picture like that. Ezio, such a likable character who's family is murdered is really just a pawn in a much larger game spanning the course of almost 800 years.

Although, I never played Prince of Persia, so I don't know what happened.

On a side note, when Ezio yells: "wait! I have so many questions!" when Minerva disappears, did anyone else feel bad for him?

His purpose in life was to give way to someone far more important (Desmond), and Minerva dismisses him so carelessly, after everything. He never really understands, despite his involvement; I found it to be quite sad.
I felt way bad for him, he spent 10 years of his life trying to find the answers and the person who could give them to him just blows him off. I thought the ending was brilliant, didn't really catch on that Minerva was talking to Desmond until she tells Ezio to shut up. Afterwards when the screen went black and Desmond was like "What the fuck!" pretty much summed it up for me. He definitely did not see that coming.

I loved the ending, it reminded me of the one in Two Thrones.

Ubi have a way with endings that make you think. The idea of the deity type race was just inspired.

Even Prince of Persia 2008... hated the game but the ending was very clever.

I hated the ending. I don't want a sci-fi plot twist involving religion at the end of a game about an ASSASSIN IN ITALY! Plot Twist does not equal great story telling, I hate that Assassins Creed has all these magic elements when it really should try to be more realistic. Assassins Creed 1 could have been better if there wasn't magic involved, Assassins Creed 2 could have been waaaaaaaaaaaay better if it didn't have all these conspiracy theories and religious plot twists. I'm very disappointed at this games ending.
Who cares? It's a game about an Assassin in Italy. You know, the place where the Pope lives? Of course they will have bits of religion in them. And how is a game about a guy who is in the past, in the place of his ancestors, realistic? Not all games need to be, "I SHOT YOU, YOU WILL BLEED TO DEATH!".
It shouldn't be about a guy observing the memories of his ancestor, it should just be a story about an assassin. And just because the pope is in Italy doesn't mean that they have to have magic, simple religion works, no god needed to intervene.

Realistic= Not explaining that magic solves shit. I want a consistent setting all the way, not a consistent setting for 90% of the game and then have a mindfuck plot-twist about gods and magic.

Both Assassins Creed games put me in the mindset that I was a normal assassin in a normal setting, and then push in tons and tons of mindfucks at the end for both of them.

Man I loved the ending so much. When she mentioned Desmond's name, I was like "WHAT THE FUCK?!?" basically in time with Desmond. It was also pretty funny because my brother was watching at the time because he knew I was near the end and after I am done shitting bricks at the awesome I just witnessed, he just says, "Who's Desmond??"

Again, the ending was very good imo. Jumping from that huge height and then ASSASSINATING THE POPE! (Or so it seemed at the time) I can't think of words to describe it, I wish you could replay missions in this game.

Well, it does make sense if you think about it. I'd recommend not sleeping for a day or two, then watching it again.

You're supposed to be confused. It's setting up Assasin's Creed 3.

But, you do seem more confused than you should be. The ones who came before are like... a superior human race. They used the pieces of eden to control humans, who they made to look like them, but to be inferior.

It doesn't matter what happened to Ezio. He apparently goes back to Monteriggioni and stays as confused as you are now. You killed the people who attacked the hideout. Vidic shows up at the end if you were paying attention. He gets away in his van, Saturday Morning Cartoon Villain style.

The rest of this post is speculation.

The Assassins, such as Altair and Ezio, are likely to be the children of these people, and normal humans. This explains Altair and Ezio's Eagle Vision, and perhaps their other abilities.

Adam and Eve, by taking a Piece of Eden, decided to stand up against their creators, hinted at in "The Truth" video.

I suggest you carefully take a look at all of the glyph puzzles and try to find a meaning in them.

Eh, who cares. Not many games let you climb a tower, and then jump off and land in a hay pile. And, you get to throw moneys at whores :)
But you don't get to sleep with them :(

Although I admit, I didn't like the story, but it was still one of the most awesome games this year.

Assassin's Creed suffers from one main draw back

The SciFi

Enough Said
Not quite. Sci fi and fantasy can blend well.

The problem with AC is that the narrative balance is off between the two plotlines. The 'main' plot (sci-fi, Desmond kidnapped by Abstergo) is way to secondary and pretty much irrelevant next to the 'secondary' plot (fantasy, Ezio/Altair dicking around on rooftops) They're practically flipped around - the secondary characters are treated as main and vice versa - and I keep remembering "hang on, aren't I sat in a chair waiting for Templars to come fill me with bullets? I don't have time to be gathering feathers!"

Desmond is the main character but only has about an hours screen time in total. Ezio/Altair, characters who are largely far more irrelevant to the plot, dominate the game. However, given that in AC 2 it's shown that Desmond has picked up Altair and Ezio's combat and acrobatic skills, this hopefully means that the inevitable AC 3 will involve dicking around on near-future rooftops. Modern London might be pretty cool.

Why do we need to sleep with them?
And, as for Assassin's Creed 3, I think it should be set in Russia during World War I, specifically starting before Lenin and the many revolutions he attempted, and ending with the character poisoning Lenin during his final days, where he lay paralyzed because of his stroke. The other ones weren't completely accurate, so you could end it with the character helping Lenin die, and fleeing Russia when Stalin became all crazy powerful after his death.
I want it to be set in the french revolution.

Guys, the ending of Assassin's Creed 2 made it pretty obvious that there was going to be a lot more modern stuff going on in 3. There may be some animus shenanigans, but I think (and hope) it wont be so major.

I loved the ending, the finale in the Vatican was pretty epic as well.
The only trouble is, we're gonna have to wait at least another two years for the next one and that's a pretty big cliff hanger. Maybe I'll replay the first two to refresh myself.
