I'm just honest, and tell them I have forgotton their name. If they know me at all, then they would know it happens all the time.

I can't remember the names of the people I go to school w/ every day. What makes this more pathetic is that I talk to them a lot, sit next to them most of the time (or more likely, they come to me to get answers) and I've been going to the same school w/ them for several years.

The simple way to avoid ever having this problem; everyone is one of "Dude", "Dudette", "You", or *nudge*.

Yes, I do it even with people I know very well. I do it about once a week.

EDIT: Oh err, generally I just go 'oh um... what's your name again, oh right, sorry'.
Same. Except that I use their nickname (if they have one) until I remember their names.

Ah, reminds me of when I was the cinema. This bloke I hadn't seen in donkeys comes up and goes 'Oh hey Darz lol remember me' and I'm all 'lol no'. I thought his name was like David or something but it was something along the lines of Martin.

I just use general terms like "Man" or "Dude". And no, I usually don't remember after my memory is jogged. If need be, I'll ask someone else who knows.
