Didn't play with many toys in my day and age... I had a few Bionicals and the such, but I primarily used Blu-tac to model. It was weird; instead of the regular play-dough, I used the regular ol' Blu-tac, which I found was a lot stickier than its entertainment-purposed counterpart.
Holy crap, me too.

I made a Blu-Tac monster to fight my favorite toy ever

They didn't sell those in Calgary when I liked Power Rangers, so I built my own combining mech out of GI-Joe Vehicles, Glue, Tape and Lego. It couldn't move, but it could stand.

Lego was also probably my favorite toy ever. I could and did build just about everything with it.

I had both of those, and when I was younger and I loved them as well as the first generation fo Bionicles. They were pretty cool, and the monsters actually looked like Legos and were hard to build, they didn't use special pieces made jsut for them, instead they used good old Lego ingenuity.

Blu Tac and sticks were also some of the best toys I ever had.

Gilbert U-238 Atomic Energy Lab

I'll just link to the article [http://www.radaronline.com/features/2006/12/gilbert_u238_atomic_energy_lab.php]
While everything on that site's list is something people would want to forget, they still deserve to be mentioned here.
That's awesome, I would've loved that when I was a kid! That's like something straight out of Fallout!

I remember those! They were sweet. There were these other ones that were similar, I don't know if they were the same brand or not, but they were like monsters. There was this one guy I had who wore a hooded cloak, and they had holograms too (it was kind of a fad back then, I think)
Yeah, the monsters came with a little dude who could ride on the back of them. Were like a splinter line or something.

I remembered another toy I thought was rather cool, was a sub-transformers thing. Little cyborg monster things that had a hidden symbol on their chest that when ya warmed it, it revealed a log, flame or wind thingy.

Ooh, and that one reminds me of "monsters in your pocket". Little single colour thingies based off mythological and fantasy monsters with various point values, even had rare glow in the dark ones. They were a massive craze for about 8 months when I was in grade 6. Or was it 5? Eh, long time ago anyway.

I miss bionicle why? I liked the fact that they had those spinny gear thingys... Yeah that and thy didnt use batteries. They were fun I'd just like having them beat the crap outta eachother. Or at least until their masks fell off.

Didn't anybody else do plastic models as a kid? Or did you all just jump straight to the glue sniffing?
