Its a play set. 2k huh? Wow, that's quite a bit. They have been sitting in a binder for years.
I have a metric shit ton of cards, but I don't think I've even made a deck let alone play in 5-6 years.

Ya know, I miss playing for ante, really made games intense. I lost a royal assassin once, top 10 angry moments in my life.

Magic cards still worth money? Any idea what a complete set of dual lands from 3rd are worth? Not like I'd sell them, but they were a total pain in the ass to collect 10 years ago.
On average, Revised duals are worth about $40-75 each depending on type and condition. So a collectors set, $500. Playset, $2000.

Sure about not selling them? :) History suggests they'll keep going up, though on the other hand the appeal is largely due to the Legacy format, and rumor has it there may be a new format in the works which cuts out anything after 5th Edition/Mercadian Masques. If that happens Legacy's huge popularity would decline and prices might too.
They're worth that much? I have a metric Fuckton of the things that belonged to my exhusband...Maybe I should look into selling them.

That Royal Assassin's worth about twenty-five cents. Sometimes life works out. :)

Dude, if you're going to steal rare, one-of-a-kind cards, don't sell them; KEEP THEM.

I thought it was more amusing when the "Black Orchid" auction at Continuum (I think) was auctioned to a non-Magic player and he burnt it on stage. ;) £600 to charity though.
That's quite funny, since there's a legend from the days of mad tulip speculation in the 1600s of someone who bought and destroyed an incredibly rare black tulip. (Why? Because a unique thing is far more valuable than a very rare thing, and he had the only other one in existence.)
Who is this guy Seto Kaiba?

Well technically gold is a better conducter then copper. I do see what your saying, its just cards are banned from our school because of there gambling potential because how much they are worth.
Gold are required to make computers, and I believe I don't need to tell you why computer are important. It is not just pretty it have real life uses. Also Diamond is used for oil drillers and cutting things (although there are some artificial materials that can be used as well). and a kind of crystal is used to make clocks.

but there are many jewels that is comlpetely useless (besides being pretty).

Yuuuuuuugi, use the heart of the cards! I remember always doing that old man impression while playing with my friend in the 6th grade he hated it cause I always did it when he was losing. Ah, good times.

I'd forgotten about Judge promos. The only valuable "promos" I could think of were the ones Richard Garfield mad when he proposed/had children, and that one Worlds prize that was actually part of the statue. Those things are so rare, though, as it would be way too suspicious if anyone had multiples to sell.
I assumed Judge Promo's as well from the article.

The trading prices of those oversized box-toppers, vanguard and book promo cards are on a slow but steady rise as well. Take the Jace Beleren book promo for example. That's a 50 bucks version of a card that normally goes for 5. It is the prettiest version of Jace though (have you seen those Japanese versions from Jace vs Chandra? Dear me).

I once planned to build a deck out of those oversized cards but when I found out how much it was going to cost to get a pretty crappy deck together I let that one go.

Prices for collector's items are always a weird thing. I wonder where my Decipher Star Wars card prices are at these days.

Had a bud in college a few years back who had an original print Black Lotus. He had no idea how amazing that card is, how much it was worth, etc. It was just sitting in his card box randomly. I believe it was in between some random squirrel card and a Wear Away (I was looking for that card, actually).

I promptly shat my pants repeatedly. Dunno if he ever sold it.

Is it just me, or does "Magic: The Gathering" and "Grand Prix" seem like two sets of words that shouldn't be together? :D

Honestly. I like to think of myself as a good guy. A nice guy. But I would have taken it. I don't think I'd have been able to resist.

As for people asking which cards were stolen. Isn't it obvious?

Rare... promo...expensive... It must be
