With the development of technology and science, humanity was able to confer powers to itself regarded as Godlike to denizens of earlier times. By the late 21st century, humans had the technology to reshape the laws of physics and evolve beyond biological life. It was this capability, that had given man all it had ever desired, that also brought about it's demise. In their search for ultimate power, scientists were able to uncover the mysteries of matter itself, yielding a raw and unequalled energy source. In 2113, life as we knew it came to an end. In the experiment, an uncontrolled fusion reaction destroyed the Earth and sent deadly shock waves throughout the entire solar system. Planet Earth, with a devastated biosphere and drenched in solar radiation, was no longer able to sustain life and became a barren wasteland.
Once news of this spread through the Orion Arm, the hegemons of mankind moved in and salvaged all that was left of either value or usefulness. Once stripped of all its worth, they left the ruined world behind.
Soon after, the senate declared the Sol system condemned, meaning that anyone in the universe has the right to lay claim to it. The scorched planet now faced an invasion by cut-throats and bounty hunters. These scum of the earth now raid the dead system and take anything left behind. The first that came to rape and pillage were hunted by newly-revived defenses in a bloodbath of epic proportions. Rather than publicize the fact that the Earth was now an immense death-trap, the theocratic government actively encouraged more mercenaries to visit the planet - to them, it was a quick and easy way to rid the galaxy of it's worst elements.
Amidst the blasted remains of civilization, the worst mercenaries this side of the Oort Cloud do battle not only against each other but also the robot sentinels that the government has left behind. Riding on anti-gravity cycles and armed with deadly mines, guns and lasers, they fight to the death while all searching for the same thing- lost glories and riches, left behind on a now horrifically broken world.
When the Earth is left to die and the galaxy's violent prodigy roams free, the future of mankind has become forsaken.
Robotic sentinels left behind. Anything considered valuable was removed and sites warranting further study were left heavily guarded by what remained of the Earth's defense force. The church subsequently re-programmed them with a new list of directives. The first directive was to was to bring itself online, re-enforce the planet, and replicate millions of new defense units for immediate deployment. The second- annihilate, without question, any humanoid lifeforms.
Many are similar in overall form to tanks or aircraft, while others are bipedal. The machines are a force that does not eat or sleep, immune to radiation and fitted for every terrain. The AI learns and adapts to enemies in seconds while constantly streaming data to other units so that all may be the best possible combatants. Deadly and relentless, the robots hunt raiders on the surface and often the only news you would hear about them was entire mercenary companies found butchered to a man.

Most of the planet Earth is in ruins after a terrible disaster. You play someone on a hoverbike that can travel in any direction. Explore military installations, nuclear reactors, refineries, temples, and more in search of gold, data, or fleeing criminals. Defend yourself from Earth's automated defense systems and rival scavengers.
The ruined Earth attracts a peculiar sort of person. They are intelligent, because the stupid die fast, but they're also outcasts, by whatever cause. The people who come to the Sol system do not have pasts- either they were born there, children of prisoners and their lives have been spent in slavery, or they came there of their own free will and for their own reasons. As far as the inhabitants are concerned, whatever draws you to their world ceases to exist once you arrive.
Character sheets are standard. Name, age, skills, gender, equipment, history, etc. I don't really care about the format, just include pertinent information.

These flying anti-grav bikes have been the primary means of transport around the forsaken Earth. The turbine engines are incredibly powerful, with a top speed of six hundred kmph in any direction, even straight up or down. The reflexes needed to control the craft as it shot through the air are phenomenal. Many pioncycles had specific flaps and control vanes linked to a computer to aid in controlling the vehicle, as well as stasis fields and a high-g shock to protect them against impact. However, due to the velocities a rider can be thrown off and killed upon crashing into an object. Pioncycles are also heavily modular. Although technically illegal, they can be equipped with a host of weapons and defensive capabilities.
Your character should have one to use on the planet surface. Describe it in the character sheet.
