ok so I recently found out about firefox add ons. more specifically i found out about add block plus. this add on is great and makes everything smoother, but i would like an add on that protects against viruses, like rogue anti viruses, pav.exe, all that jazz. I've heard about NoScript, but i don't really understand what it does.

so, escapists, what add ons do u suggest.

I dont use any free add-ons. My av software has a browser plug-in which blocks anything even remotely suspicious. Even tells me beside search results in google which sites check out and which sites dont. Lists viruses found on certain sites even in search engines.

Feels good man

Linux.

Just kidding. I would suggest that you make sure the anti-virus solutions on your computer are robust enough rather than focusing on browser plug ins. Some of them can help a bit, but they can also mess up how certain websites work.

Ad-Block Plus and NoScript.

NoScript disallows any scripts from running on a website unless you give it permission. Effectively blocks pretty much anything from getting onto your computer, without your permission anyway.

That is all I use.

Greasemonkey is almost the best addon I have ever had, that coupled with Firebug and websites become your *****.

I don't know about any anti-virus addons, I use a load of other ones though.

I think noScript works by blocking anything that looks like java-script so it literally cannot plug a virus (Without you saying to allow it). It works, but it's the sledgehammer to crack a walnut situation.

Of course, anything that just gets viruses will never be as foolproof as banning the entire language that viruses are usually written in. It's a trade off.

"Undo closed Tabs" - I use it on a regular base, because I often close Tabs unintentionally or need them again after 10 seconds because I already forgot what I looked up.
It basically saves your last 10 or so closed Tabs so you can press a button to reopen them.

Firefox does that already, History > Recently Closed Tabs / Recently Closed Windows.
I have a custom thing for Firefox that makes everything red. It's awesome.
