I joined up on this forum late last year, and since then I've been enjoying a good healthy dose of Opinion Soup on these forums. There have been other people who have joined up late last year, and a lot of them have already gonzo'd out.
I guess it's all a matter of, what's the word? Commitment. yeah. And diligence, and perhaps not everyone who joined up from Sept '08 to Jan '09 is as crazy posting as I thought, but some of the more prolific figures on these forums have joined within those months.
Not to say that voicing your opinion is a bad thing, but where does someone draw the line?

I believe "the line" is Max. He's on about 8000 posts in under 6 months.

Including a suspension.

What about that other guy? I forget his name but his avatar is Eddie from Iron Maiden and he's got (OVER 9000) 12,000+ posts.

seriously? only a single suspension.
also funnily enough i looked at his post count a few minutes ago and thought to myself how long he must spend on these forums.
although with some of his controversial posts i can see him doing a lot of replying to his being quoted.
( by the way that wasn't meant in a negative way, don't hurt me)

Guess there just happens to be a lot of topics they that wish to post in, or they get incredibly bored and post for the hell of it, even if they don't really care about the topic. I would probably be somewhere near 1200-1500 by now, but I had a 4 month break when the amount of repeat threads and stupid topics was just unbelievable.

I don't think there is a line... If you really have so much free time you can get 8000 posts in 6 months then good for you. I have been here since October 2008 but I lurk a lot. There are few occasions where I actually post which is why mine is significantly lower.

I've been here a fair while compared to my post count, but for the first few months I barely posted, so I suppose that explains it.

I do find it a little odd that some people have been on these forums only since even about March that have already Gone Gonzo.

Some people feel the need to share their every thought. Some people wait until they have a serious, clear and original point to make before putting fingers to keys. We all find our own balance.

In the words of Jackie Chan: I like to let people talk who like to talk. (I know it makes no sense, it's Jackie Chan)

I joined in November and I've got through periods of posting too much and periods of not posting at all and that tends to balance things out. I have to say I have to restrain myself from posting stupid comments or not adding something to the conversation and force myself just to log off some days...

...and yes, Max is a curious case...

"One can't have too many opinions, but one shouldn't write for no reason", to sound a bit poetic. But really, there's no reason to not write, unless you're a flamer/spammer/troll or anything like that. Look at me, I've posted like crazy in the two months I've been here. I'm just full of ideas.

Also, how many posts are required for "Gone Gonzo"? Not to try to get there, just wondering how much we're talking here.
