This one, probably.
Blah blah blah "back in my day...." speech about how the entire site used to be better in every conceivable way.

Seriously though, there are only a few things here nowadays keeping me visiting this site at all, which hadn't been the case a while ago.

PKMN and Offical Nintendo Magazine Forums. I quit PKMN when high school started and I no longer had time to do sprite request. Tried going back but old friends had left. As with ONM, I grew out of Ninetendo games and latched onto Sony like a koala bear, and when the original editor left and the mag got a whole new update, it wasn't the same anymore...

Pretty sure this is my first forum. I've only really been active on the internet for a couple of years.

European World of Warcraft forums. I used it a lot during the time of Vanilla WoW and the Burning Crusade expansion pack. As the difficulty level of WoW went down (more noticable at the end of TBC and the coming release of Wrath of the Lich King), so did the quality of the forums.

Gone were fun, friendly forums, where you could also have a serious discussion about class balance and such. Even though it would be wrong of me to blame EVERYTHING on the casual gaming crowd, the more they joined WoW, the more the quality of the community went to hell.

Right now the Escapist is the only forum I hang out.

Gamereplays. I still enjoy it, but there hasn't really been new people in ages, and half the board are people I end up in TS with, so it's kinda died off for me.

Gamefaqs/gamespot (they share the same boards). I joined back around five years ago for .hack//g.u. And I would surf other boards and it was good. It was friendly to an extent but those were the old ps2 boards. Now every time I go into a topic it eventually devolves into a mess of troll baiting and flame wars. It makes me sick. Sometimes I wonder why I still go there and every now and then there is an amazing fun topic or a topic where I can give friendly advice. But now that I have started to post on The Escapist forums I don't see why I keep diving into that cesspool.

The Classic Game Room Forums, it wasn't an amazing flourishing community but a lot more conversation happened around classic games, which I thought was neat. Also things in general seemed to stay more positive. Rather than..

"Why is Skyrim doing better than Zelda? It has Zelda in it! D:"

Oh boy my first every forum!! It was way back in 2001 and it was the Megatokyo forums!! We had such great days. There was the time I was chewed up and swore at. Followed with death threats. Followed with nasty things said about my mother. Yeah! Great times! This was within seconds of posting and it seemed to be nothing but that.

I used to be on an Evangelion forum. It changed servers then died. Never seem to go back up.

I also used to do a Guyver forum. It was the time the new Guyver anime was coming out in 2005. So we talked about the new episodes. I got into lots of fights with the same people and ultimately left. More so when some people wouldnt let things go and seemingly act like I was "out to get them". Thing is I was almost a moderator on the forums I had been there for 4 months and when things got too heated. One admin went "You a strong candidate for modship. Dont ruin it now." I took it as flattery however no admins or mods were stopping the constant attacks on me until they were too late.

I used to roleplay. So had a few RP board I cant remember. Never felt like I carved any sort of reputation. Except for one It was great....untill I pissed off one guy that was a mod and he banned me and pretended it never happened. Everyone knew our bad blood and however had no proof. Untill he destroyed the board........

I was also a notable on a forum for a sprite webcomic. Team Spirite. Scott Ramsoir of VG cats fame was there. He didn't like me much. I was told you either need to make him laugh or be Canadian....I am neither apparently. Kilgore and Psycosis moved onto the vast VGcats forums as Admins. I tried their however too big.

And finaly I am at the forums of the webcomic Krakow found here www.Krakowstudios.com It used to be the webcomic Krakow its changed to a superhero comic spoof of spiderman called Spinnerret it is getting alot of fans and the forums are different than when I joined 10 years ago.

The forums used to be just guys getting together and talking than about the actual comic. 6 hacks and 2 reboots the forums still goes on however it has actualy became talking about the comic. Instead of the rain of Noobzers. My old title of Post master general (person with most posts). Or the Anti silly wars of 2004 with weponised plane girls at its heart. Plane girl warfare has been banned under the 2005 treaty.

A .hack forum I visited when the G.U series was being released. It was a fan forum but after the last game of the series was released they shut the whole site down. It was stupid because it was a pretty big site at the time and people had made a lot of friends on there, including me. We all migrated to a new forum that was created for all the fans but eventually it died too. So here I am today.

Used to be a fan of the Bungie forums, left after they got filled with people who considered anyone who wasn't a 2% Onyx with a 2.0 K/D to be bad.

World of Warcraft off topic forums, had a lot of laughs there. Very sad when it didn't make a return after they revamped the forums.

Gamefaqs

Any time I posted in there it was met with, and I quote: "STFU F*****!!! Why can't you just learn it on your own without anyone elses help. Ask again and I'll find where you live and rip out your arms and then break all your games so you'll never be on here again." or this little doozy "I should just hack your computer and fill it with c**** p*** so you'll get arrested and never be able to play this game again." then when I reported them, I would get "They didn't violate any rules of the forums." But God forbid I mention a character that didn't appear within the first hour of the game without spoiler tags...

The HoNour Clan (HoN clan)that was maining Aliens vs Predator 2, we had members split up into three teams each dedicated to one of the three races; Aliens, Humans (both marines and corperate) and Predators. i was one of the best players on the multiplayer rankngs (10th/8th i think, only alien on in the top ten) i could kill an entire team of marines or predators on my own (used the runner class, the weakest but the fastest alien). after the game servers closed down the clan went on to WoW so i left the clan.

then there was the Speartip Alliance, a group of Chaos Space Marine players for warhammer 40k that was established in 2006 for the Medusa V campaign. we were mentioned in week 4 for securing the Edathor sector of the planet and many of our members were mentioned for their contributions. the group was 400 strong but began to drop a couple months afterwards, we ended up with 40 members who continued to fight in online campaigns till june 2010 (exactly 4 years after it began) where there wasn't enough members left to make an impact. so we disbanded.

I'm now apart of serveral websites including here, warseer, Bols, gamespot, Work in Progress and New Badab.

When I first found the internet, there was an adults only website I frequented. Not like that. Get your minds out of the gutter. I enjoyed it there. There was a section of the site where I RP'd and a forum section I was very active on. At first it was fun, but then some really crappy role players took over who wanted to only run their specific storylines (as opposed to the more open role play we'd been doing for years) and god help you if you accidentally got into their perfectly planned out play! Shitstorms became the norm.

After I stopped RPing there, I still went to the forums because I'd made a lot of friends there over the years. But, all of us kind of stopped talking about the stuff that made it so much fun for the first few years because it got lost in the waves upon waves of people asking for good thoughts for their boss's daughter's best friend's second cousin's BFF's hangnail surgery and posting pictures of their grandkids and dogs and generally sniping anonymously (registered names aren't required there) at people who pissed them off at some point (usually over something stupid).

It became an utter cesspool of the worst of humanity, and I haven't been back in at least three years.

I stopped posting on there after my boyfriend of the time found out and started finding all my old posts on there from before I had even met him
Alright, now you have made me curious. What were you posting there? What was so bad about it? Did they have a share your fantasy section and you confessed that your secret fetish is being gangbanged by amputees while going to the toilet? You can see that I immediately took this in a fucked up direction, but why else would your boyfriend be so pissed?
Nothing that weird! Most of it was just me complaining about how I couldn't get anywhere with the guy I was in love with at the time (actually the guy I'm going out with now!), just stuff you dont want your boyfriend reading, especially when it involves major trawling...

Well, there was:
GameFAQs, where I slowed my posting rate until I stopped.
Two or three DnD-esque RP forums. One got taken down by adbots, the others died out the arse.
A wrestling forum which not only killed my interest in posting, but my interest in wrestling (for a while) due to Australian broadcasting.
And here, which I've noticed I've started to slow down because of repeat topics, or ones that lack interest...

Years back I used to follow a small gaming project, there were very few of us ever on the forums and we all had similar interests so everyone knew each other and there was practically zero trolling going on. Of course, as gaming projects often do, everything went through a management change and new members who were a lot more vocal turned up. The old members starting leaving fast as threads just degenerated into long insult filled arguments with next-to-no work getting done. It got to the point went where the project fractured into two separate games each with their own forum, neither of which seemed related to the original subject matter and prone to changing ideas every other day. I finally gave up hope that the project I followed for years would ever be completed and just left.

I still miss the old forums from the early days though, all that is lost now.
