Bender: Everybody, I've got bad news. We've been cancelled.
Zoidberg: Oh, no! Pete..Bender, how could they do that?
Bender: Well, unfortunately, Zoid, there's just no more room on the schedule. We've just got to accept the fact that Fox has to make room for terrific shows like Dark Angel, Titus, Undeclared, Action, That 80's Show, Wonderfalls, Fastlane, Andy Richter Controls the Universe, Skin, Girls Club, Cracking Up, The Pitts, Firefly, Get Real, FreakyLinks, Wanda at Large, Costello, The Lone Gunmen, A Minute With Stan Hooper, Normal, Ohio, Pasadena, Harsh Realm, Keen Eddie, The $treet, American Embassy, Cedric The Entertainer, The Tick, Luis and Greg the Bunny.
Zoidberg: Is there no hope?
Bender: Well, I suppose if all those shows go down the tubes, we might have a shot.
Don't copy family guy.
OH, THE IRONY! FAMILY GUY COPIED! I mean, he was copied... hehehe.

Also, of all those shows mentioned, I don't give a rat's ass about ANY of them. Okay, Tick (we're talking about the cartoon, right?) is good.
Wow, some of those shows got canceled so fast I've never even heard of them.

And Abedeus, while I find it disappointing that none of those shows cause a rats ass to be given from you, unlike me (okay so just Firefly and the Tick), it's nice to see someone else who remembers the Tick cartoon, the actually good adaptation of the comics. It's too bad the DVDs left out some of my favorite episodes due to legal reasons that apparently only caused concern with a DVD release but not when the show aired. Good thing I used to tape that show. "Hey! Your'e the guy who made my head hot! Well you're not going to make my friends' heads hot!"

On a slightly related note, Maurice LaMarche (who does a lot more voices than just Kif's on Futurama, though I suppose they only mention that because Kif is a main character, sort of), also did numerous voices on The Tick cartoon. Among these is one of my favorite characters from the cartoon and a voice that, despite attempting numerous times in the years since that show was on, I can't even come close to imitating: the Evil Midnight Bomber what Bombs at Midnight. It's a gravelly sort of voice that he mutters at top speed, but only when he's not shouting or giving the best insane laughter I've ever heard. I can try one line and have a sore throat that lasts only the rest of the day, if I'm lucky. I don't even know where to start on the laugh. This really sort of stinks because he is hilarious. But after trying I can appreciate LaMarche's work even more. I wonder if he does a special trick to keep his throat from ripping itself to pieces.

Heh, are you kidding me? The Tick was my favorite non-Cartoon Network cartoon, next to Justice League. All the crazy situations, Chair burning half of his name in the Moon, just so it can be eaten by a cosmic monster. Tick's killer moustache, the speachless terrorists unable to make demands... I love that show.

Also, didn't know LaMarche had so many roles, I just remember him as the Brain from "Pinky and the Brain". The character was alive and awesome thanks to him.

No! NO! Noooooooooooooooo!!!
I don't believe Fox. Those actors love their jobs on that show. Just listen to the DVD commentaries! I was close to believing in the goodness of humanity when I heard that Futurama was coming back, but the evilness of Fox overshadows all hope.

Yeah, the brain was great too, I just thought it was cool to look him up and find out that he did so many characters on all the shows I used to watch. I think the episode with Omnipotus is the one they cut out of the second DVD unfortunately.

Have no fear Escapists and Escapeeies! Fox and the actors have come to a compromise!

Bender and Zoidberg for all!

THis is indeed disappointing and frankly I'm not liking this. But if they keep up the status of the writing material, I suppose we could surpass this.
I guess we can agree that the new cast willl have big shoes to fill.

Actually, they've already averted this disaster. The old crew has signed back on with Fox. This thread is just out of date.

EDIT: Here's the update link - http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.128249#2744094

I already watched some of the new episodes, cast was the same, how old is this news?
That's physically impossible, you must mean the movies, because the new episodes just started 8 minutes ago

But it is working fine on comedy central. Fox, go screw yourselves. You canceled them before, another network got them, said network got higher ratings for it and you are pissed. Not pissed enough to keep the original actors or even pay them enough.

I hope it gets canceled by fox a second time, picked up again by another network and the original actors come back for that one.
