welcome to The Escapist!... and, i doubt it, honestly. Halo is a mega franchise which will sell millions whatever it does, and that includes going to RTS. In comparison, most other FPS' need to consider the risk factor when making such a bold move. Who knows, maybe Modern Warfare has enough fame to be able to make the jump? I wouldn't want to see it happen though.

A Gears RTS would be cool. (Wait, thats a third person shooter. oh well)

I be sending swarms of tickers and wretches. And when the opponent is weak, I then send a bunch of brumaks to finish the job.

What he said. In addition, RTSs require a plenty filled out world, with defined organization, relationships with the people in power and well thought out and fleshed out universe and units of different scales of power. Because RTSs tell a story of campaings and legendary battles and the story requires a world to happen in.

Halo:CE did a lot to give us basis for this Halo world, which has later been defined and fleshed out more. How you would go about doing a RTS about Painkiller or Doom? You can't, because they, like most other FPSs, lack the versatility to depict such large-scale battles.

None that I can think of, really. I was kinda surprised when Halo did it, because RTS's have usually been difficult to get working on consoles.

I found that Halo wars was interesting but I didn't even finish it. It had too much of the console RTS plague. (bad controls) now if a shooter series used a sort of End War type of control it could work, and The Godfather 2 pulled off a mini RTS in the middle of the killing and bombing properties. (A kind of high action game of monopoly if you think about it hard enough but not quite hard enough.)

This definitely isn't going to be a trend, it that's what you're trying to say.

I don't think many will, though some may be able to make a good way.
