FPSs vs. RPGs?

I was playing Half Life 2: Episode 2 recently after beating Mass Effect 2 for the second time when I had an epiphany.

This huge showdown between Valve & Bioware, is it really two companies battling it out?

Or is it first person shooters against third person RPGs?

I'm absolutely in love with both companies & when I go through the list of games I've played for each, I can say with confidence that Valve has created nothing but first person shooters & Bioware has made nothing but 3rd person RPGs.

What do you think? Valve vs. Bioware?

Serious Sams in it?! :O Jokes aside, nope it's Valve vs Bioware, subtle storytelling vs in your face storytelling. People constantly dig at Valves storytelling and "lack" of it, but it's in the detail :\

To be honest although they may develop alot of one genre its not really a battle between genres. Its between developers and their games regardless of which genre they may be in.

Also valve because I have an undying love for counter strike. Even though mass effect was the first RPG i actually enjoyed so much I replayed through it several times

This is gonna turn into a flame war.
I like both. Bioshock and Bioshock 2 are some of my favorite games ever made and they're like a fusion of FPS and RPG. I also love the Mass Effect series.
