For some reason, my framerate randomly plummets without warning and i have no idea why. Just to clarify: I have a nvidia 8500 gts graphics card and ive updated to all the latest drivers.
This can happen at any time regardless of what im doing. It could be when im playing a game, or it could be when im just browsing the internet. I dont ever have more than two things open on my computer, so its not a system overload thats causing it either. I have no idea why this happens but if anyone knows anything that could help me fix this problem, then please post it beneath.

If theres any details ive failed to provide that may help with this, just ask and ill find them for you

Is the cards fan functioning properly?
I believe it is, how can i find out if it isnt?
My system has a manual fan control option, so I can spin them up when I want.

You may be able to find a freeware piece of software that'll keep track of the temperature, so you can see if anything ties up. I've heard of issues like this before and one of the problems was the GPU running too hot.

I take it you've made sure all the internals are free of dust, it's amazing what a difference nice clean fan blades and heatsinks will make, a nice service is always good.
