Franchises That Need To Halt.

OT: I dunno, I can't think of any that need to die, except maybe Tomb Raider, oh and Mortal Kombat (sadly).

There are a few that just kept going downhill since their better days. i.e. Sonic, FF, Halo, and most fighting games. However, I just don't buy them and swear off the franchise. I don't really care if the devs decide to keep on bastardizing their own franchises.

But seriously any series that is above '5' needs to take a break for a few years. If only to allow for a new engine or new developers with fresh ideas.

Yep, I know it can't really be considered a franchise till the lunch boxes and the novelisations come out, I just really hope there's not a third. It really said all it needed to say with the first one, from a narrative stand point anyway, it was hardly ground-breaking FPS gameplay to start with, but the story made it what it was.

I kind of feel that more sequels might compromise the integrity of the first one, dilute it with it with shit 'cash ins'.

Leave it be, by all means make another game that's similar in gameplay, just set it in space or something.

I'm glad none of you have control over the industry because the majority of these series are good fun. A large number is irrelevant as long as the game is good I don't mind, just because a lot of you think it's cool to be indie

If I am honest most game series that need to stop have because they are genuinely rubbish, not just to your taste. However Too Human should be killed now

Here's an idea- if you don't like games from a certain franchise DON'T FUCKING BUY THEM. Nobody is making you buy them, and if they are being made there are obviously people who enjoy them, so how about you just play whatever the fuck you want, and we'll all do the same.
There are plenty of game franchises I don't like, but their existence has never stopped games I DO like from being made.

It's because of the newer ones. The first Halo was awesome, Halo 2 was good, Halo 3 sucked, ODST looks worse than 3, and yeah... They're just getting worse and worse. And when Bungie stops making Halo and it's just Microsoft, it's REALLY gonna plummet.

Pokemon is definatly one. The orginal few were good, but now it's just a money farming pit.
Sonic, ummm I'd say Rising is a very uneeded game, since it honestly isn't about Snake, though it does look awsome, and Peace Walker is too, since they both help tell more of the story.
Call of Duty is definatly one that needs to cool off for a bit as well. Halo, and uhh, there's a couple others but I can't name them off the top of my head.

Movie wise, I don't think I'd have to say which one since alot of people'd agree with me. >.> <.<

The only game franchises that I THINK need to stop are mario And well Metal gear.
Mario because they just keep re-releasing the same tripe repeatedly and people keep buying for some unknown reason.
Metal gear because it just keeps getting worse, the only good game that they made was mgs 3 because of the survival and the excellent blend of action and stealth but mgs 4 threw stealth out the window and just went for teeth grinding action and for jules sake why are they making another? AND WHY IS RAIDEN THE STAR? sure he's cool as a ninja but snakes dad is better(obviously back in the cold war times not now adays.)
