CoD.

Warcraft. If you're not gonna make Warcraft 4, stop remaking the same life-sucking expansions every bloody year.

Splinter Cell. Unless they make a good one.

Anything that is comes out yearly. Assassin's Creed is really taking a horrible turn with this trend. It wouldn't bother me if the story would continue without being so pretentious. Multiplayer was cool at first but now I just find it just as repetitive and boring as something along the lines of Call of Duty. Then again, online gaming isn't something I really enjoy unless I'm playing with people I know. Also, we better not get more Ezio. He's a great character but I don't want him to overstay his welcome.

I'm actually really interested in the Desmond plot.

And yeah, Ezio's kinda done to death by now.

I wish we could all just pretend that WoW never happened.

Kill Illidan? Sure, why not? What the hell, let's throw Arthas into the mix.

What I would like is a game with Desmond as the assassin. Typical gameplay with modern touches. Or the rumored WWII assassin. That would be cash.

These two remind me of Weekend at Bernie's; they're Bernie & the fans are the guys dragging them all over the place like they were still fresh & rosey.

They also remind me of these guys.

Some of the franchises I like, but wish to see the back of.

Silent Hill.

I'm just sick of people ruining it, it hasn't been any good since "Origins", looking at the state it's in now I now look back on "The Room" with a great fondness, at least it had a decent story.

Star Wars

Can someone please do something to keep George Lucas the hell away from it and make him leave it alone, please? It's not even funny any more.

And an honourable mention that I'm not all that into but feel they need to stop anyway.

Final Fantasy

As I've said, many, many, many times before, I don't hate the Final Fantasy series; it's just not my thing. However, the quality of the series has been in serious decline with every successive sequel it has spawned. Square Enix has even gone as far as aplogizing to their fans for releasing a broken game [http://www.ripten.com/2010/10/20/square-enix-apologizes-for-ffxiv-range-85/].

This has to be a slightly longer explanation because I know how protective the fans of the series can get (I went to uni with five of them, one of which I dated for a short while; guess what caused her to break up with me) please understand that I'm not hating on the series; I just think Square Enix needs to stop treating their fans like crap, the whole thing feels like some kind of battered wife syndrome where the fans will still defend Square Enix no matter how badly they're treated. Either improve the franchise and stop trying to emulate the success of FFVII or just let it die, from what I've heard, seen and read on various forums, reviews and word-of-mouth; Square Enix owes their fans BIG.

CoD. For one reason and one reason only:

NO, YOU DRATTED COWORKER, FOR THE TEN BAZILLIONTH I WILL NOT BUY IT ON YOUR SAY-SO!

Seriously, if your fanboys are so bad that they threaten me if I don't buy your product, it's a hazard to society and needs death.
Because if CoD dissapears, the people you are talking about will stop being idiots.

Seriously though, that's fair. Well, that's fair, isn't it? I know people who threaten other people for not following their religion. Therefore, religion should dissapear.

(My apologies for using religion as an example, I could not come up with anything better and do not wish to start a flame war).

OT: There are a couple of Russian game and film series I want to end, but none of you probably heard of them (and for good reason).

COD I feel ripped of after BLOPS it was 60 Euro,s but is shhorter then a 20 Euro game and the multiplayer is as balanced as a bowling ball on stilts

Sonic just let it end

Halo pretty much ended

Final Fantasy: maybe it best to end a series after 13+ games (including spinn-offs) and go back to Chrono Trigger

COD and Halo spring to mind but you have to ask yourself the question of where will the idiotic fanbase go? Better to keep the games going to reduce the number of idiots in the online FPS games I like (BFBC2). So despite the fact I hate those games with a passion they have their use.

I'd like to kill Assassins Creed before it is whored out on a yearly basis and because I'm getting bored of the series historical filler to Desmond's story.

Bioshock (now stay with me on this one) I have nothing against the first game, well not strictly true, but I would prefer the dev team to buy the rights to System Shock 3 and work on it. If you never played System Shock 2 then Bioshock is a watered down version (hur hur) of the style of game System Shock is.

FIFA. This one is simple I hate football and hate all the office talk.

Well, if Assassin's Creed begins to focus on modern times I'll want that franchise to be killed.

Pokemon; I've loved it since Red/Blue, but they should've stopped after Ruby/Saphire
It probably would have more of a lifespan if each generation wasn't the same game every few years.

"Oh boy, starters for Black and White! I wonder if there's a new type triangle- Nope, same exact game.
True, that's what killed the series for me

What are some game series' that you think should no longer continue?

My top two for this are Call of Duty and Halo, not because they are generic FPS's or all the seemingly typical reasons, but there are some others why I think they cannot be sustained.

Call of Duty:
With Black Ops, the Call of Duty series has covered essentially the entire timeframe from WW2 up to modern times, and has settled on the gameplay and feature set that appeals most to its fanbase. There are three directions it can go from here, once the MW series has run its course.

It can either go back in history, which cannot work with the established gameplay and will make the fanbase reject it.

It can go into the future, which will betray what the games are all about for many people and will make the fanbase reject it.

Or, it can keep rehashing within the established timeframe, which is something Activision is more than willing to do and will keep a lot of people happy, but cannot be sustained long since it cannot offer the minor tweaks that make this strategy work for sports titles.

Add the departure of Infinity Ward's leadership and talk of additional subscription charges for future titles, and things simply cannot go well for the future of Call of Duty.

Halo:
Your talent is gone, Microsoft!! Bungie is a great developer, and their personality and relationship with fans are part of what made Halo stand out amongst the FPS crowd, and is what endeared me to them and their creative output. Add the fact that their games are the most fun (with liberal application of the "mute mic" feature) and most balanced in the entire online multiplayer scene, and it is clear that Halo cannot live without Bungie, even if they can't write a good game story to save their life.

Now that Bungie has left Halo behind to hopefully inject some new blood into the mainstream gaming scene, things cannot continue with the series. Sure, there is plenty of expanded universe to base games on, and Microsoft is sure to milk the franchise to its last drop no matter what I say, but without Bungie's personality and skill, any continuation will seem like a soulless clone of the originals.
I've seen a number of people say that a WWI Call of Duty would be great. Although I'm thinking a COD game that focuses on the zombies would be epic.

Or at least explore different cultural eras. Maybe an Asian assassin would be nice, like the one that killed Qin Shi Huangdi. Or a more modern time. Explore different kinds of weapons, like that Russian Assassin in that comic.

There's a bottomless potential for exploring different eras and we're stuck in Renaissance Italy :/

Sigh... so where is my list of franchises I have grown annoyed by or just dislike?

Sims (but not, like SimCity or anything),
Why sims? maybe xbox or ps3 sims. (yes im looking at you SIMS 3 for xbox.) but on the PC its AMAZING! you can make your own houses and stuff like that.
i don't see why you would want to kill it off as there are 100's of thousands (probably) that love the game...
