Sorry if this has already been mentioned.

Frankie Boyle is a British comedian who is infamous for making jokes that can be considered crude or outlandish.

The Daily Mirror have accused Mr. Boyle of being racist because of some of the jokes he tells. This has led to a legal battle where Mr. Boyle is suing the paper.

I don't think it's fair to peg Mr. Boyle as a racist just from the jokes he tells. Do you think his jokes go to far? Or is this a case of being too easily offended?

Frankie Boyle is a typical loud Scottish guy who is not racist but controversial. He's not prejudiced because he hates everyone.

He works at Channel 4 so that basically means he can get away with things he shouldn't really. Channel 4 have always been about breaking boundaries and being seen as the naughty side of TV. Oh Virgin School... where did you go? :(

Nevertheless I think some of his jokes are in poor taste. I remember when he insulted Katie Price's very ill child. Granted Katie Price is a no talented, narcissistic human being but you should never ever pick on an ill child. I don't think he even apologised... there's being funny and then there's being an asshole.

He's one of those popular kids at school who everybody loves and yet this one person has it out for you. He or She will make your life a misery and their friends will laugh. Low.

So no - I do not think Frankie Boyle is racist and his humour is based on shock value. Bad publicity is good publicity as they say.

I think when media outlets start picking on what comedians say, it's pretty clear their barrel of ideas is running a bit low.

But, who's the one that's easily offended here? The person who heard the joke and accused the comedian of being racist, or the comedian who is suing the person that accused him of being racist?

Racial issues exist. It is possible to discuss said issues even if you don't happen to belong to that race. Using an accusation of racism as a /thread is not conductive. Getting all huffy because someone called you a racist is not conductive either.

The Daily Mail calling out someone for racism?

Pot, meet kettle.

Boyle isn't as funny as he used to be.

He used to be subtle, now he's just crude.

EDIT: Daily Mirror, not Mail, my, don't I feel silly :D

Boyle is actually notorious for not being able to deal with hecklers.

I remember one show where he stormed off because of a heckler.

He's quite a mardy chap.

Frankie Boyle's not racist, just controversial. Just because you make racially insensitive jokes doesn't reflect your actual opinion on that particular race.

I don't know why he's wasting his time suing The Daily Mirror, because they're known for spouting bullshit and it's not as if people weren't cynical of his humour beforehand.

You had me with the thread title. I stopped reading when you said "The Daily Mirror".
Is Frankie racist? Nah, he just doesn't give a fuck about anyone and will happily make jokes at anything and damn the controversy

But let's be honest here:

Frankie Boyle is a lot of things.

Racist is not one of them.

He's not as funny these days though. It seems these days like he's started to make jokes for the sake of being controversial. Used to be he'd make funny jokes regardless of how controversial they were, but now it's the other way round - he'll make a controversial joke regardless of how funny it is.

You shouldn't expect people to take your word on anything.
Agreed. Nick Carter hasn't been hot for years. And Jay-Z? Please.

Zero credibility.

I think they're confusing racism with his general hatred towards everyone. His jokes are indeed controversial, and some of them I don't think are all that funny. I don't know enough of his material to judge if he is racist or not, but he's probably made a few racist jokes knowing him.

Damn you, you... *checks* Damn, can't say anything racist to you, I'm a Brit too... -_-

Anyway, I'm actually in agreement with him on this one: he's controversial and offensive, but not racist. He takes the piss out of everyone, so you can hardly accuse him of discriminating... -_-

Well it is the Daily Mirror. He isn't really racist, his comedy is just controversial and he does it to everyone. Went to see his show at wimbledon theatre a couple of months ago, I must admit he isn't as funny as he used to be.

Yes, this.
I used to like him a bit more but now it seems he's gone into `Look what I said!` territory and that's just not funny.

As for the OT, while I don't find him funny, I don't think he is a racist and newspapers, like they always do, are just looking to stir up some shit.

I haven't seen much of his recent stuff but he's essentially a troll. That's the impression I get anyway. You got offended? Job done, yet another thread derailed/person annoyed

He's pretty funny, i'm not one to ever get offended by jokes... Ever. I don't think it's ever happened. I've seen 9/11 (that's 11/9 if you're sane btw) jokes, racist jokes, dead baby jokes, 3rd world jokes etc etc and I can laugh at them all.

I'm naturally resistant to pretty much everything and what is the point of getting offended by a joke?

Anyway, his jokes are so funny because they're in such poor taste. I think. Maybe I just like the darker stuff in general.

Ok I just looked up a dead baby jokes website cuz I was curious and my god are they funny. They really shouldn't be but they are...

Spoilered because some people are pussies over-sensitive

What do you call a dead baby with no arms and no legs laying in a ditch?
Phil.

HA! Classic.

If Boyle is racist, then so was Carlin and so is Chris Rock.

Saying race based jokes /=/ being racist.

Pot meet kettle? More like black hole meet kettle.

Same for the Mirror. In fact it's even worse Boyle was basically mocking Mirror/Mail readers/writers and getting humour from how awful and loathsome their opinions are. And then the sue him for being racist?
