Hey, I'm trying to find the FPS of the games I play, and FRAPS was reccomended for me. I downloaded it, but it doesn't work, for some reason. I have Vista 64-bit, and it says "Fraps has stopped working" and it shuts down. Does anyone have solutions, or better, any alternative benchmarking software that's free and easy to use?

Thank you in advance Escapist community.

The Fraps site says it works on vista 64, so I don't know what the issue could be. Have you tried running it as an administrator?

I used 3Dmark06 from futuremark. They usually have a few free versions of their software that you can use (though they're quite restricted).

What's that? Some new kind of chewing gum?
No, some guy gave me a box of puppies and rainbows, and I nailed it to the side of the PC.
The puppies are expensive to feed, but at least my computer's running.

At least your PC is running. I'm lucky, because every 1-2 months something goes ZOMGBAILATORZ in my PC and crashes. Graphic card stops working, drivers go bye bye, hard drive error, PEBCAK and so on.

Fraps is not a benchmarking tool. It shows your FPS and enables video/audio capture in real-time, at the expense of lowering your FPS while you do the video.

Try downloading (COUGHtorrentsCOUGH excuse me) full version of Fraps. Uninstall the old one/repair it and try again.

Or just go with XP 64 bit if you are a gamer.

That's probably the best comeback you could've made.
I salute you.
Or, I would, if I wasn't afraid of punching myself in the face on accident.
SO EXHAUSTED
Damn straight I did.
Your exhaustion levels mean nothing to me.
Salute me, *****

Mine likes to do little things every now and then that aren't technically crashes, but piss me off nonetheless.
For instance, a couple of months ago, no video would load past the half way mark, if it loaded at all. Then, out of nowhere, it fixed itself.

I think I may have been more annoyed that it just started working again without me ever knowing what the hell was wrong with it than I was with the fact that it broke in the first place.
