Yes it was worth it. It didn't feel incomplete, or anything like that.

According to my friend, however, Mass Effect was far superior to MS2. The elevator rides weren't even that bad, and gave me a sense of immersion, and a chance to prep for combat. For MS2 my friend feels like he's playing EVE with a dash of Sims, because you have to take care of your bloody fish.

You don't know why anyone would want the 360 version? How about because they own a 360 & would like to play the game?
Buying games for their prefered gaming platform? THAT'S CRAZY TALK!
It IS crazy talk???

Shit I must have forgotten to take my meds again. I swear these PS3 games only work on my Wii when I've taken my meds

*knocks back some pills*

Now, time to play Starcraft 2 on my Master System

Mass Effect 2 was... oooohhhhhh... you got it on PC.

I have it on Xbox, and all Xbox 360 games are $60 naturally. So yes, it was worth absolutely every penny. I didn't pay extra for Zaeed or any of that, simply because it was all included in the free Cerberus network stuff. Some of it was just for preordering the game, but that cost no extra.

So for me, as a 360 owner, it was absolutely worth it.
Actually, they see it 50$ for Pcs here in Canada, not sure about anywhere else.
60 for the xbox.

As for the op: For me, they sold the game at the same price as any other game next to it so yes the dlc is free.

I rented it instead of buying it, so my opinion is a little off. After finishing it once, without any of the DLC of course, I would not have been disappointed had I purchased it for full price. It is a great game through and through, and I didn't feel like I was missing anything by not having any of the DLC.

Would I buy the DLC that has been released for free? No. There's just nothing there that combines both personal interests and worthwhile content. The Hammerhead, for example, looks really cool but I'm not going to pay extra for a couple of missions and a "driving" mechanic that otherwise appears totally detached from the rest of the game.

Yes it was free DLC. All new games cost $60.

edit: I forgot to mention it was definitely worth every cent of the $70 I paid for it. (I preordered the Collector's Edition.)

Mass Effect 2 was definately worth $60 without the DLC.

I didn't really ever use Zaeed. I still would have bought the game without him. And I would not have felt cheated in the slightest.

And the armor? Well, I got armor just as good as the DLC armor for pre-ordering the game. So I never used that either. From what I hear of the Firewalker stuff, it doesn't add that much either.

Let's be honest here... the Normandy Crash Site mission was pile of galactic space poo, wasn't it?

And the Collector Armour... nice rubber Halloween costume, Shep.

The new DLC looks fun though, can't wait to try it.

I actually own it on the 360. The point I was trying to make was if the game felt like it was worth $50, or $45, or the full $60?
Both? Oh, then I guess I know if you thought it was worth it. :p

Okay then. My point still stands though: totally worth it. I absolutely loved the game, and would have gladly gotten the collector's edition if Gamestop didn't stop carrying it so early... >.<
No lol actually I'm just retarded and can't type. I only own it on the 360.

I kind of agree with you. My first playthrough was without any DLC, and I felt that it was worth it, minus some glitches. But after seeing what Bioware left out and that, had they given themselves another month or two, they could have fixed a lot of the bugs and maybe a few other errors, as well as seeing the quality of the DLC, I started thinking maybe Mass Effect 2 isn't such hot beans.

That was my reaction to it initially to. As a mission it sucks, however as a sort of bizarre funeral/tribute to the original ship and Pressly (especially if you convinced him to trust your alien crew mates) it's sort of touching. It's sort of sad to see the ship that you used to travel the galaxy in the first game with be torn across a small stretch of land. And even though I hated the Mako, seeing it frozen in ice, forever still when it used to rock around and climb vertically only to be stuck right before the top of the wall, is somewhat sad.
That's right, Peter Molyneux, I feel more love for the vehicle I hated in ME then I do for any of your annoying villagers. Why? Because it actually served a purpose (even if it was bad at it)!

An even more terrible scenario is paying full-price for a game that has DLC available at launch, and never being able to access it because my Xbox 360 doesn't have internet hooked up to it.

This is really splitting hairs I'd have to say. If one wishes to look past marketing hype, fanboy defenses and enraged trolls, the question one needs to ask is not "what did it cost" but rather "Did I find that the value of the product I purchased was equal or greater than the price I was asked to pay".

The question of "is the DLC free" becomes irrelevent because the presence (or lack thereof) is simply added to the percieved value of the product. For my part, I played the game through without any of the DLC the first time around. For my second attempt I added the DLC and found that I never used the Armor and Zaheed's quest added less than an hour of play time to the experience. If I were to judge the value of this additional content then, I'd have to say that the accessory bits literally provided zero value for me as I never leveraged those assets and Zaheed's mission extended the experience by less than 5%.

Besides, let's not kid ourselves. In spite of all the soapboxes that people around here stand on when they shake their fists at the shadowy machinations of corporate entities, the purpose of this DLC is to encourage people to purchase New Games rather than used, and failing that, hopefully gain something from time to time on used sales. There is no evil in play here, no clever scheme and nothing that needs to be hidden or revealed - the value of the product is whatever you percieve it as the same as always, and given enough time and pressure even the price is negotiable.

The Cerberus Network is a nice little goody bag they gave us. There is no question the game is good enough without the free DLC for a 60 dollar price tag. If any of the current DLC had cost anything I probably would not have bought it unless it was really cheap. I generally don't buy DLC.

To those people who didn't use Zaeed or the new suit of armour, on what basis is the DLC actually worth it?
I bought my copy over steam for far less than $60 and frankly I'm satisfied with the product I bought DLC or no.

Does this DLC add anything too the over all Mass Effect experiance?
Does the new character/weapon change anything?

I don't know about you guys but a game were you crew members are supposed to have some kind of feelings towards you & one another. I'd be expecting a new character to maybe shake it up a bit.
That's just me though with my my own gripe about games with these kind of systems.

If it's done, put it in the fucking game.

Enough of this "launch DLC" bullshit. It's like buying a James Bond movie on DVD only the box advertises "oh, but we shot this extra scene where the hero meets up with his old flame, and another where he fights with an assassin... but you can't watch it, you have to pay a few more dollars for that"

Of course everyone would say "So put it in the fucking movie, you shot it, if you think it should be in there just put it in".

I wonder how much of this is down to the limitations of the Xbox 360's DVD media, not just that it is DVD rather than Blu-ray but how you cannot simply install (since arcade models don't have hard drives) and how each DVD can only hold 6.8GB due to excessive copy protection measures. It may be tempting to dump a load of textures and level design into a DLC download pack so the burden is taken by the ISPs rather than the disc distribution mechanism.

Either way, this is a pretty underhanded attempt at crawling back some money from 2nd hand re-sales. The big question is if someone spent $20 on a pre-owned version... why in the hell will they spend another $21 for a few poxy side missions? DLC should be MUCH cheaper, $10 for THE LOT. And future Game Of The Year re-releases should have all the DLC ON DISC for all customers just like all the map packs with Gears of War 2 GOTY edition.

I wonder how many pre-owned sales in the future will come with:

"Mass effect 2... DLC codes still valid! only $29.99!"

the assumption is that the second someone plays a game they use the codes... or will they not use them to retain the re-sale value of their game. now THAT is an emergent behaviour I'm interested in.

I didn't like the DLC armour, you couldn't take off the helmet nor customise the appearance. In the first game I romanced Liara, so you can imagine how disconcerting it is to have seen the reunion kiss without taking off your helemt.

The bonus weapons are also less powerful than the standard weapons you pickup along the way, only exception may be the Singularity gun. Conversely, the Arc Projector is damn near useless against some of the bosses. The target has to be in contact with the ground in order for them to take damage, so your SoL if your fighting gunships or those flying husk things. Try it against the mechs with shields, by the time you get a shot off they have chewed all your shields away.

The hammerhead, its a mixed bag. Some parts are good, others not so much. 5 missions is not nearly enough time to spend driving it around.

Yes, it was fantabulous. Not really enjoying the firewalker DLC, however.
