Alrighty... I want to buy Missile Command and E4 on the Xbox 360 and noticed in the "Add Points" section of the website, there's an option to "Redeem Code". Aside from the obvious possibility (it's only to register store-purchased points), this implies to me that there's some form of promotional offer out there for free or discounted Microsoft points.

Did a lot of searching on the interbutts and came up with the following:

1) "Sign up for 12 credit cards, get 1,000 Microsoft Points Free!"
2) "Buy a 12-Month Xbox Live Gold Submission and..." (No mention of MS Points in the whole page)
3) "There is a limit to how many points you can have: When you reach it, you will be informed!"

...wait a minute, what was that last one?

Indeed, it appears that not only is there a limit to how many MS points you can have, but there's also limits on how many codes you can redeem, even *PURCHASE* in a day! That's right, it's impossible to buy say 10,000 points in a day.

What's a person to do when they're maxed out on points? Give em away, perhaps.

You think that there's such a method/website where you can go to just put your codes online and swap out, or if there's a community that allows folks to swap out some codes for others (Live subscriptions for points, etc)? Most importantly, do you think it's possible to *give* your codes away?

I know some folks get free Gold trials and Points when purchasing their console or new games, but not everyone that gets those intends on ever connecting the 360 to the internet. Seems like a waste of points?

I don't know, your thoughts?

Don't buy points if you can avoid it. You're giving them money for, what is at the time, nothing. Way too many chances for them to screw you over.

The redeem code option is because people can buy MS points in the form of gift cards at local retailers, thereby avoiding the necesity to use their credit card on XBL.

Get in line.

I would imagine that there are forums where people may put codes up, but I doubt there's any real chance to get them unless you're faster than everyone else who sees it. I doubt Microsoft cares who enters the code, because, as the saying goes, they got theirs, Jack.

Oh, I only buy points when I specifically want something. I've bought like 12 games via Live, enjoy em all. Castle Crashers was fun, Mega Man 9, etc. But like, this time around, I'm not sure Missile Command is worth $7 and so I started looking for some kinda promo code. Don't need 20,000 points (but I wouldn't refuse em if someone sent me one, lol), but y'know.

Well: I've bought Mega Man 9, Castle Crashers, Small Arms, Crystal Defenders, Worms, Pac-Man Championship Edition, Hexic HD.

There's also a 100% free game called Aegis Wing.

Mega Man's Mega Man... Castle Crashers is like that old "Knights of the Round" arcade game by Konami. Small Arms = Smash Brothers with Animals (lots of fun). Crystal Defenders is a tower-defense style game that I fell in love with. Pac-Man CE and Hexic HD are fun too.

Worms? I'd say skip it... very limited port: You get like, 3 level types, 25% of the weapons seen in Worms Armageddon, very little customization. It's a very stripped down game, but it's still Worms fun.

Games I'm looking to get: Every Extend Extra Extreme, Missile Command, Super Street Fighter II HD, Ikaruga, Rez (Dreamcast classics with updated HD graphics), Bionic Commando Rearmed... then a bunch of smaller titles like Angry Barry (hillarious Barack Obama final fight clone), Doom, Duke Nukem 3D, and so on.

Angry Barry sounds like fun, if only for the spectacle. Wasn't the original doom made free ware?
How many points did they cost you on average?

That's not a bad deal. Gold is $30 a month isn't it? 1200 points is only 15 or 20. But still no thanks.
