So recently I've developed an RTS itch that my collection of Strategy games at current just can't scratch. I've been playing lots of Company of Heroes and Dawn of War and would quite like some help. My funds are low right now (bought the THQ pack from Steam) - therefore the "free" part.

Now, here are some ground rules:

It must be a "proper" game - no browser ones, thanks.

No saying "I dunno man, but x is pretty good" or "x is pretty cheap", this doesn't fill the "free" part.

Mods do not count

If they have microtransactions that's fine. Most free games do.

Beyond that I'm not too bothered. I'll put a list of the ones posted in here (with some I already know)

The Original C&C Games

Battleforge

League of Legends

Fire away, please.

Try battleforge, and interesting premise for the game though you will find that it does have an optional price value.

Also, this isn't fully an RTS, (its an FPRTS) but Savage 1/2 or Natural Selection. Both are very good and take alot of strategy, though they are built on the concept of one player per team viewing the game from an RTS perspective (constructing buildings and upgrades) in order to progress his team who act as the units in the game.
