Ok to add my $0.02 to the discussion.
If youtube would ask me for a decent price I'd likely get premium.
In the UK youtube premium is £11.99 a month so ~$16.50 a month.
That's £143.88 a year or $198 a year.
Compare that to Prime
£7.99 a month or £80 for 1 year on one go meaning it costs £6.58 per month.
Compare that to Netflix
£5.99 a month for basic
£9.99 a month for standard
£13.99 a month for the Ultra HD service
Youtube premium is literally more expensive that all but the 4K netflix package. If they dropped it to a more sane price I'd consider it but I know youtube isn't making £11.99 a month off me from viewing ads mostly because I've seen ad payout rates and while they can vary a lot depending on the providers and I'd wager $0.02 per 1 hour would have to be 1 hour of adverts not 1 hour of content and even then I'd say that a higher rate than some stuff pays out at. I mean sure a certain provider who I can't name was paying out $0.45 per 1 person who viewed the advert at one point but that's more of an anomaly normally a creator will be getting like if they're lucky $1 per 1,000 views. if they're not getting the premium ads.
