hey, so its finally happened, my Xbox did not RROD but instead received 1 flashing sector of the button on the lower quadrent, upon filling out my repair form online it said its 100 bucks to repair my xbox, now wtf, why do I have to pay extra for a faulty product(albeit I have had my xbox since release), is there some sort of way to get them to repair my 360 for free or am I fucked?

It depends on the error that it gives. I had the RROD and got it fixed for free. I feel its a bit unfair to still want the money to repair it though. I don't know what you could try.

i had 2 RRoDs and a E74, so 3 new 360s and a refurbished one. Recently, the refurbished xbox had the disc drive go bad, so i just bought a MW2 xbox. it runs great. if you can, i reccomend just getting a new xbox. the cheapest ones are $200us anyways.

I heard something about packing the xbox in towels then leaving it on but honestly I wouldn't recommend doing this.

I don't think a launch 360 would be covered by any warranty. They cover rrod for 3 years and i think e74 for three years. In your position i'd jusy buy an arcade or get a tech savy person to fix it. You don't have a warranty to void so why not try

I'm pretty sure that you only have to pay for repairs when your console's warranty runs out. Is it still under warranty? If not, then tough luck. Other people have mentioned some pretty good options; I'd suggest paying the $100 and getting essentially a new Xbox for half price.

My xbox got the RROD and I had to spend $100 also. Its pretty unfair I think, but hey, at least I can play Dragon Age.

I had a launch 360 get the RROD after a year. At the time I didn't play it much and couldn't justify spending money on repair. The summer of that year they introduced the scheme acknowledging that the RROD was their fault and if you input all the correct info on the website they say even out of warranty they will repair it for free. You send it off, they repair it and it comes back to you.
Back when it happened to me years ago it took like 2 months to get back to me (as everyones was going faulty at the time) but the last time I had a RROD was about a year ago. I sent it away and it came back within a week and they had replaced the console completely. My guess is if yours is still a launch 360 they'll send you a new one too.

If it's not the RROD error you're getting then as far as I know you will be charged for it.
