So,I've been playing Freelancer (got it for Christmas),and I'm loving it. I'm still locked into Liberty space, but, hey. There's lots to shoot down. Lots to sell. And PLENTY of space to explore.

And on that note...I've found some wrecks. And Buffalo Base. But we won't talk about Buffalo Base. Too many bad memories.

I've discovered a trend about wrecks, you see. So far, every wreck I've found was in an area with reduced visibility. Five wrecks in the Badlands in New York,a wreck in the central ice field in California, and so far,one wreck in the IRRADIATED DARK MATTER CLOUD WITH A DEBRIS FIELD IN IT in Texas. Seriously, could they have made that specific area of Texas even more hostile?

So,I've done some research into the wrecks in Liberty space. Apparently, one wreck in the aforementioned Dark Matter Cloud of Death, called the "Prudhoe" has a load of 20 diamonds. Which are valuable. However, after poking around online,I've also discovered another wreck,by the same name, with the same cargo,in the Hudson system.

So,my first question, which system has the diamonds, and my second question, what are your wreck hunting stories?

Freelancer now thats a game i havnt played since the last ice age, i do vaguley remember that wrecked ships almost always contain somthing of value be it legitimate or contraband, they are often gaurded or as you mention in a area of irradiated space or some such contrivance, i guess thats just making it a risk vs reward situation.

As for a story about one i guess the first one i can remember finding contained some kind of narcotics and i had to travel about 5-6 systems evading all the local badguys and law enforcments just to sell the bloody stuff because only one planet actualy gave a good price.

I did enjoy my time with freelancer, i guess my biggest gripe was the leveling system that locks you down untill completion of a specific story mission, the other being that any ship other than a light or heavy fighter is increasingly impossible to progress with, try buying a transporter for extra cargo space to make trading runs actualy viable and i can say with certainty you'll get massacred by any pirates that happen to interrupt your trade lane.

I have a few bad stories about Trade Lane disruptions. There's me,flying a Defender. Max capacity Nanobots and Shield bateries. Then,suddenly,TWENTY-FOUR OUTCASTS IN DAGGERS dirupt my Trade Lane on my way to Texas from Norfolk Shipyard in New York. I died quickly. The Defender is also the best ship I have access to,as well.

But,the next time I used that very same Trade Lane, only four Outcasts in Daggers. Still used most of my shield batteries, but at least I lived.
