Forum friends that is. Do you ever think you'll meet up with any of these people? Or would you like to keep their identity something of anonymity forever?

Also...does anyone just accept random friend requests? I don't know why people choose to friend me, I rarely accept unless they've directly told me they wish to be my friend for the way I've presented myself on the forums. Or if they have an awesome avatar. Sorry to all the ones I have in waiting, but...why are you friending me?! o_O

I befriend almost everyone that adds me, because they probably enjoyed a forum post of mine or something like that.

Except you micro2006. -Points at him-

There's probably only one forum-goer on here I'll ever see in real life.

And that's cause I actually know him and we went to school together XD

But hey, if I ever heard someone talking about it or heard a forum name I recognized, I'd risk awkward moments to see if they went on here.

I know two of them in real life, so yeah.
I assume they were real life friends prior to this forum? Or am I wrong in my assumption?

I just friended you because you're a panda. Also you have a penguin as your LIVE avatar.
But I don't really care if they request to add me I check their post count, check what they've been posting then consider adding them.

I'd love to meet up with some of the people here. I think we should have more meet ups

I doubt I'll ever meet anyone from these forums in real life.

As for the friending thing, they friended me, so it seems kinda rude not to friend them back. Besides, More friends = More badges (10 more friends and I get a pillar of the community badge) I like badges.

Yep. I've known one for 2 1/2 years, and the other for... I think five this year.

I figure, "what's the harm?" and accept most friends requests here. (Not on Live, though... I've vetted those ones thoroughly for years now out of sheer self-defense.) I'll confess to not knowing most of those on my friends list here.

As to whether I'll meet any of them in person, dunno. I have met with friends I got to know well from other forums and generally enjoyed the experience. (But that was with friends I'd known online for a couple of years, to the point that we actually had real friendships and knew each other. I haven't been here as long as I have been at those other forums.)

Hehe, Don't worry, it wasn't your friending that sparked this topic. I have a huge list of people who friended me...and its just been piling up, but I honestly don't know why they friended me. A PM would be nice, but I guess thats asking too much =P

I actually don't know why anyone friends anyone.
There is no real benefit like Myspace/facebook where it lets you see their profile or anything.
Hmm seems like a useless feature to me.

If I ever reopen my live account, I will likely at least add those who I have on my friends here to my Live friendslist, and I think it would be neat to meet some of them for real, unlikely as it is with me out here in the boonies of Wyoming, plus I don't really travel much.

I'm kind of the opposite on that. I find it odd unless I've been quoted/agreed with or even disagreed with in a topic. As for the whole badge thing, I find it in bad taste to friend for a badge...I would like to know who I am friending first.

Escapism Oh-Ate and Escapism Oh-Nyne.

I'd like to meet a whole lot more Escapist than I have, to be fair. As such, I encourage you all to be in Sydney on the 18th of April to meet us.

I accept all friend requests.

No, I don't have any friends I expect to meet in real life. On other websites, yeah, I do, but not here.

I know one in real-life, and another I've known before I came to the Escapist.

There isn't all that much to say.

I will return a friend request if I know who it is coming from, but random ones from forum goers I do not remember I tend to ignore. I'm not trying to rude or anything, it's just that I don't really care about making a list of people I don't at all know.

Also, I'd be willing to meet some of the people here IRL, but the light... the light! She burns us!
