To be honest I thought Oblivion wasn't THAT good until I DL'ed some mods, and would myself not play oblivion again without mods... And Yes Dark brotherhood is good compared to the rest of the quests...

And it get to much and I thought it were to many (and to hard to find) gates, and also way to many useless boring dungeons...

+10 points

- Dark Brotherhood had the best quests
- Too many boring ruins around
- Mods at least make the game more playable (although too late for modern standards now)

The sad part is how Oblivion seems to have so much potential but drops flat when you get deep into a mechanic. Whether its combat, exploring, talking to randoms etc you will run into an obvious limitation or stagnant feature that could use some work or needs to be expanded. The only thing guaranteed is how consistent the game will be with constant ruins/dungeons to explore for mere loot and a odd hidden quest.

I personally never really cared for the immersive side of Oblivion, and it's one of my overall favourite games. The story is well rounded (in my opinion) and you have above average control over whether your characters morality (okay not THAT much above average, but it's still better than say.. the Fable games IMO). I'd really suggest you try and give the game another go, and not go in with a mindset that you NEED immersion, because if you're looking for it you'll only find the flaws where it should have been better written/programmed/etc, but if you don't look for it, you may actually find yourself immersed in it quite a lot, as was the case for me.

So my question is, should I give Oblivion another try?
Do you want to give it another try? If you do then go ahead, if not then you aren't missing much, it's nothing spectacular. Everything about it screams laziness and mediocrity. It's a brilliant game, though, but you won't be hard struck to turn it off after a couple of hours.

Shivering Isles was insane and wonderful and fun as hell. Definitely gotta play that, if nothing else.
