A friend of mine sent me a link to a ZP video ages ago and from there I found the forums signed up and have lurked ever since. I usually tend to post in the WH40K threads.

I lurkewd for a while. And then I jioned. And then I found somewhere innocuous to post first. Then I began branching out. And now I post everywhere, that I think is interesting

I lurked for a couple of months after joining before I posted. I usually do lurk a bit anyway, just to get a feel for the community, and to figure out what's generally acceptable, and what isn't.

Nope, not really. Once I joined I decided to post some things in the forums. Bad idea too. I didn't know how to behave because I hadn't picked up on the nuances of some of the more experienced posters.

I lurked for a while, started posting, got busy with school, and now I'm mostly back to lurking.

Uh...I first found the website after being linked to the Bioshock ZP, and at first all i did was watch those. Eventually I ventured forth into other content, and later after that the forums. And AFTER that it took that retarded March Madness to get me to make an account.

Thing was rigged...

So uh...like, 1.5 years lurking?

I have been visiting the Escapist for quite a while (not really sure how long; I joined a while after I started watching videos here.) but I never really posted anything. Now as time goes on I have found myself posting in topics and joining groups as opposed to merely lurking about and reading things that look interesting.
So, for the sake of my own curiosity, I felt the desire to ask: did you guys lurk for a while (from days to years in my case) before you began posting? Or did you just jump in as soon as you found the Escapist?
I lurked for about two years until I joined in 2009. It was then I started posting in ZP comments and from there I moved to the forums. I am glad I came from the darkness into the light :D

Haha, this is awesome. I considered not replying in this thread...
but then I realized it would mean I was lurking in my own thread about when people stopped lurking -.-

I think I joined because I saw a really interesting discussion on the little sidebar while watching ZP. I'd been watching them for a while, but was never aware of the message boards.
I joined, I posted, then during the summer I didn't really go online. And... now I'm back! yay!

I don't really lurk, if I have an opinion I like to say it. (Completely opposite from me offline). I usually hover around in topics with few replies, because I know the feeling of "no one likes my topic =(" and I want to make people happy. That, and I have a hard time keeping up with 10+ pages of discussion.

I followed ZP for about a year before I started lurking forums. From there, after 2 months of time spent primarily in the Religion and Politics forum (where much of my time is still spent lurking) I created an account. My forum experience until then had been essentially non-existant.

Didn't lurk the forums. For a while, I'd only come to this site for ZP. Never even looked at the forums. Then one day decided to create an account, and started posting immediately.

Yeah, for about a year before I joined few days ago. I noticed I actually have something to say about forum topics here.

Lurked for about a year, made an account... and kept on lurking. I spend waaay to much time on the forums, but most of the time i don't feel compelled to actually post something. I don't see the point in posting your opinion on something if it's already been said x amount of times before. It certainly doesn't help that I'm very insecure about my spelling. -_-

I didn't really lurk at all. I was sent to ZP by a link in an excellent article I was reading at the time and found it amusing enough. From time to time I thought to return to see more. Then, at one point I actually clicked around and found that I quite enjoyed the site so I decided to stay.
