Everybody acting so surprised... why? What was the last big Disney hit that didn't get a sequel?
Wreck-it Ralph and Rapunzel for starters. Both where pretty big hits, even if not nearly as much as Frozen (guess quality doesn't go hand in hand with quantity now does it?).
Um, Wreck-It Ralph is getting a sequel...

That was from 2 years ago and nothing else has been revealed. Seems to me it's either been shelved for now to make way for more money, or they're being more tight lipped about it then is typical of a Disney annual animated canon movie.

The only Disney animated film who's sequel has got a theatrical release is Rescuers 2. (ignore the DVD only crap different studio)
I watched Rescuers Down Under a bunch of times as a kid, and didn't even realize there was a Rescuers 1 until years later. Definitely a sequel that does a good job of standing on its own.

pretty obvious they coulndt "let it go".
yes, i coulndt help my self there. surely not surprising just how it should continue, thats what i like to know. so i guess wait and see. since disney is also doing tron 3. this could be either be good or very bad.

I'd argue that Wreck-it Ralph and Tangled made $471.2 million and $591.8 million at the box office, while Frozen made twice as much as either of them - $1.274 billion - despite of the fact that it was made for less money ($150 million, compared to Ralph's $165 million budget or Tangled's $260 million). Frozen made twice as much, for half the money. It also garnered two Academy Awards - one of them Best Animated Picture - while the other movies either failed to win or even get nominated.

If Disney was waiting to bet on one horse, this is it. Nothing surprising about Frozen getting the S.

I still haven't seen the original Frozen and have somehow managed all this time without hearing Let it Go.

Well I look forward to seeing more little girls dressed as Elsa or Anna or any new characters for the next couple Halloweens. They do look cute in those costumes. :)

Oh boy, it starts. I remember when the golden age of Disney descended into endless sequels off it's popular properties, seems a bit early for this round, but there you go.

Y'know how Disney was all, "Hey, we can make sequels to everything!"... And then, their movies really sucked for a while... And you hear Pixar came in, and was all, "No, no, no! Stop it with the freaking direct-to-video sequels!"

...And now, Pixar has made a sequel that sucks, too... So they're apparently not keeping as tight a grip on the leash...

So, anyway, to make a long story short: I really liked Frozen; that doesn't necessarily mean I want them to try to make more of it, a decision that without question springs more from financial interest than artistic interest. I'm envisioning another attempt to make a song that catches everyone like "Let it Go", and a threat that we can't take seriously, and a "twist" that we see coming a mile off, and... Everything I envision just diminishes the original rather than building on it. At best, it's only not as good as Frozen and we ride this horse into the ground like Shrek. At worst, it's so bad it buries the original- you stop talking about the first one because you don't want to acknowledge the rest of the franchise.

It's another of those cases where I'd certainly like to be wrong... but I don't see it happening. You can build off of "good and solid", like Toy Story. But greatness, by its nature, tends to stand by itself.

*massively sarcastic* Oh, great, more Olaf. I totally can't wait for that.

*snip*

You know, I'm fine with that. It would suck if it took an extremely shitty sequel to make people stop talking about it, but I'll take what I can get if people will stop singing that stupid song every time I say anything that vaguely resembles "let go."

First film was the character come to terms with their power, accept it, and embrace it. For the second film, we'll see her explore her powers and defend her people against an oncoming threat that threatents to burn Arrendelle to the ground.

I honestly cannot see why people think this is a bad thing and that there's nowhere to go. I loved the movie, but it was basically a Superhero origin story sans climactic fight at the end. We now have Elsa willing to use and explore her powers, and we'll get to see some real magic.

The direct to DVD stuff gets a lot more crap than it deservess. Some of it is awful, yes, but among it you had stuff like Return of Jafar, Twist in Time, and Simbas Pride, which is actually superior to Lion King in many respects.

Makes me glad Tangled wasn't as much of a critical darling and marketing succes, so they at least left that alone. I didn't like the first Frozen anyway, so they can go and milk its udders into oblivion for all I care.

Other than that, if it truly crosses over with Tangled, then I'll be happy regardless...
Oh God, please no...
B-b-b-but... The smolder...

But seriously, a Tangled cameo would work just as nicely as well... I mean, this sequel can't get any better and/or worse than acknowledging a potential Princess-based cinematic universe at this point...

If they want to give a nod to the Disey cinematic universe, they need a vacationing french peasant family with a magic carpet slung over their arms. That gets them a link with Hunchback of Notre Dame, Princess and the Frog and Aladdin simultaneously, as well as confirming simultaneously that Catholicism, Islam, Voodoo and Elsa's godhood are all simultaneously real.

Whatever happens, I can continue my headcanon that Elsanna is a thing and Kristoff will never be Anna's true love. >.>

Oh glob! Do they have enough money in the budget to do all that in the same 3D art style as Tangled and Frozen? Or worse, the Princess-based cinematic universe only revolves around just the 3D-animated movies and neglects the 2D-animated movies because, to this specific universe, 2D animation doesn't exist that way in the first place?

OH GLOB! I don't think this sequel's going to work out in the way that I hope at this point...

The heck are you talking about? We've already got links to Pinnochio and Sleeping Beauty in Tangled (evidently Goethel knows Maleficent and borrowed her wheel, and Pinnochio hung around in a bar. Are you really suprised?), the boat Elsa and Annas parents died on was backdrop to one of Ariels many many being-stupid-and-insensitive-while-being-in-danger scenes in Little Mermaid, and those movies link us to damn near every other one of the films in one way or another.

Okay, ew. Incest, very, very ew.

And when they introduce Elsas new love interest, I'm sure she and Elsa will be just as cute as Anna and Kristoff.

No, that not a typo.

Honestly, I don't have that much of a clue outside of half-sarcasm/half-bad joking... Then again, the last time I actively looked for Disney Easter eggs was while watch Princess and the Frog, so sorry if I should have known about those eggs beforehand, I guess...
