This year Disney on ice, is actually on Frozen. i planned to go with my daugther until i saw the price of the tickets !

maybe they could use the arc they have created for "Once upon a time" and adapt it.

Where can a Frozen 2 really go? It was a nice, self contained story, that didn't leave any threads for a sequel to really pick up on.

I'd rather see a sequel to Wreck it Ralph. That movie has sequel potential if they had stuck to their original idea of hopping from game to game throughout the movie, instead of just a few.

Frozen 2... is just going to follow the sequel tropes of old. New villain that threatens the land and either counter or take away the ability of our heroine, they have to discover how to get it back and or find out it's origins in the first place. new whacky sidekick that is even more annoying then the original, or dedicate 1/3rd of the movie to said original side kicks. And toss in a love interest for any character that didn't' get one in the first film.

There, I'm calling it. Forgive me if in a few years I find this thread and revive it, if I turn out to be right.

Huh. I just got done watching it again and this pops up in the feed. Weird.

As for my thoughts on a sequel, I'm kinda with everyone else here in wondering where it could all go from there. I mean, I don't think there is nowhere it could go, but I think that where it should go will be a very hard question to answer, since a lot of the possibilities would generally feel like retreads of the first film. I mean, they'd have to figure out how to further explore the core relationship of the film, the bond between the sisters, and still go to a new place with it(maybe Anna is the one with the personal problem this time? Maybe they could explore the healing of that bond, since it atrophied for maybe a decade or so...). Inevitably, however, it will be compared to its predecessor, and with such a strong initial entry I don't think the chances of it being preferred over the first one are high. There is the rare case where the sequel only got better than the previous entry(Toy Story, for example, did this TWICE) but that's rare. Wherever they go, I hope they do well. They made some really good characters with that one, and I'd hate to see them go to waste.

I demand that the climax of the film be a massive wizard duel between Elsa and the villan, I wanna see what she can do when she focuses her power with intent.

Also, the only acceptable romantic partner for her (if she has to have one) is Captain America. I don't give a shit how you do it, Disney, just do it. And the first person to make a Winter Soldier joke gets a potato up the jacksie.

Lion King 2... Little Mermaid 2... Disney was the first to burn me on thinking sequels are good things. If any part of the plot is Elsa has to find a king BS then I'm not watching it.

I don't really see how they can make another with the standard Princess formula, but the entirety of the first movie was about deconstructing and subverting the Princess formula. That's what made it so great, it was essentially the Disney version of Spec Ops: The Line. If there is a sequel, maybe have it be about the politics and reality of ruling. Like, how would neighbouring kingdoms react to the news that the new Queen can freeze a country by accident? Or what if there's someone with fire powers that wants the kingdom? We know Frozen is in the same universe as Tangled, which also had royalty with superpowers. Could try and tie them all together like the MCU. Or have it go the How To Train Your Dragon 2 route, with the characters trying to apply the lessons they learned to a new threat, but have it not work so they need to come up with something new.

Or make a Disney brand cheapquel, but I really hope that won't be the case.

Afterthought, if someone could make a Frozen/How To Train Your Dragon crossover, I think it's safe to say that would be the greatest family film ever.

Too bad the first sucked. I guess this will be even suckier, as per usual with sequels.

Hey, maybe it'll surprise me and not be as boring as the first, but not holding my breath...

OT: Oh no are we gonna get another shrek? The ending to the 1st one was definitive. You don't need anything else. Franchises get stale.
In fairness, Shrek is one of those franchises like Dead Space or Dragon Ball where the first one was just kinda "meh" but the second was fantastic. Granted all three of those were sequelised and spun off into the ground, but it was fun while it lasted.

I'm sure the self contained story really needed a sequel. I imagine that it will be a sequel much like how BioShock 2 and Halo 4 were sequels, trying to force in some retcons or some extra plot elements where the previous one had left a bit of a gap or blurry bit so that the plot in the present makes total sense guys.

Seconded! Wreck-it Ralph set up such a large universe that they could even just make an entirely new movie with all new characters. Please, make it happen, Disney!

OT: As others have said, so will I: what's there left for this movie to go? I remember being a little underwhelmed by how traditional a happy ending Frozen had, but it was definitely self-contained.

Personally, I think it would be really interesting to tell a story about Elsa as a ruler: learning to be a good queen and having to make tough choices and sacrifices, maybe explore how it changes her relationship with Anna. That would make for an interesting premise.

Also, if there's 1 thing I hope Frozen 2 will not do, it's replicate the now-famous twist of the original in some way, or worse: try to one-up it.

Will it be direct to DVD, like most of the Disney "sequels"?

Seriously, this is quite unnecessary. Frozen was a good film, I liked it quite a bit. But it doesn't need a sequel. Hell, it doesn't have room for one. All the plotlines have been resolved. There's just no need for a sequel. I'm gonna have to join the chorus and say just Let It Go...

We're not likely to get a Wreck It Ralph sequel, as it takes MANY companies sayng yes for that to happen, and after the success of the last one, the money they'd want for the use of their characters has probably sky rocketed. As for Frozen? I don't mind a sequel, as long as they go to war, as other kingdoms learn of the queen witch on her frozen throne..

Not surprised... but disappointed.

Frozen works because it is self contained. If they make a sequel and, for example, create a love interest for Elsa (maybe a fire dude, to further mess the point with an easy mark), it would undermine the point of her entire arc in the first movie. At least in direct-to-video movies, they can go for the "now the main characters have some wacky adventure that in the end changes nothing of the characters themselves and status quo is maintained"... but since this such a popular movie, the sequel will be a full blown feature film.

Sure, declare war on the woman who can snap-freeze a continent when she's having a panic attack because there is no way that giving her a legitimate target and a reason to hurt you could possibly backfire.....

I mean it would be awesome as shit, but it would be a terrible idea :p Also, someone mentioned that Frozen was a good deal of deconstruction of the Disney Princess formula; so why not use it's sequels to build up the first Disney Queen is is both alive, not evil and not a mother (and ergo in no danger of immediate death).

I personally think they should throw caution to the wind and do something like this:

Or this too; I'm flexible.

go back around 10 years I'd be concerned

however since they've mostly put a stop the Direct-to-video bullshit AND we live in an era where big sequels to big movies are profitable it *could* be decent

but what fascinates me about this is we've never had a proper sequel to a Disney Princess movie...I mean honest to god "were actually trying" sequel, what happens after the happy ending? you know?
Just about anything really. If it's still going to be a Disney Princess style movie, it's probably going to be similar to a lot of fables and myths, a very simple story, but well told.

I'd personally like to see some kind of political issue with the other kingdoms that she has to deal with, though if they go the route of "the other kingdoms won't trade with us because they think she's an evil smelly girl demon thingy abomination". Personally I'd dislike that route for a story, but it wouldn't surprise me if they did that.

Maybe some kind of supernatural threat that only Elsa's powers can counter, or maybe she loses her powers and finds that she misses being who she was. Really, any number of stories are available for them to use, the real question is how well they tell the story.

Considering how much I enjoyed Frozen, (and I hate Disney Princess Musicals, and musicals in general with a hate that is almost divinely holy in it's nature), I think they'll do a good job with it.
