Since it's highly unlikely that you'll be replaying The Witcher 2 after you're done, I want to give you a crucial piece of advice for enjoying the game after Flotsam. At the end of Act 1 before you leave Flotsam you'll have to make a choice that will determine the entire second act (location and missions are unique). When the time comes to make a choice - choose Iorveth's path. It's so much better than Roche's path.
Too late for that I'm afraid. I chose Roche without a second thought. I like him. Iorveth's just a violent, racist asshole. But now I apparently do have a reason to replay the game, which is nice.

I did the same my first time around hahahahahaha. Started replaying it again not so long ago so I'll be picking Iorveth this time.

The Witcher 1 is garbage I know many people who gave up with it and tossed it aside ever to pick up the series again. I only completed it out of sheer bloody mindedness for completeionist sake before starting Witcher 3.

Witcher 2 is alright I'm not a fan but I can see why some people really dig it.

Witcher 3 however is a work of art a gold standard in RPG storytelling and pacing.

And I forgive CDPR for all that its quite clear playing Witcher 1 that where they ended is what they originally wanted. It just took three iteration to make it 'work'. However will I ever play or touch Witcher 1 again? Hell no.

I've tasted Witcher 1. Wasn't able to get very far before giving up. Just too clunky & archaic for me, but I suppose I've given it enough time since then that I can try it again sometime.

I've given a decent effort for Witcher 2. Still strangely clunky & archaic, albeit with decent graphics & animations. Story still wasn't enough to get me past the clunk. It'll be a while before I have the will to try getting farther into that game.

I've started Witcher 3. Almost all of the issues I ran into with the past 2 games have been greatly smoothed out. For what little I've played of it so far it feels fairly enjoyable, unlike the last 2 where I had to struggle not to quit any sooner than I did. While I still hold very little interest in the story, bits of it are interesting enough along with smooth enough gameplay & graphics to make me actually want to continue playing.

I respect the Witcher series, but it's just one of those gaming experiences that *just* don't work with you personally. Maybe eventually I'll finish 1 & 2, but damn do those games make it hard for me to do. At least 3 seems like it'll continue to be decently enjoyable for me.

I bought The Witcher 1 and 2 on sale for something like $5 for the both of them. I picked up the first game, played it for an hour and could bring myself to do anymore. Assumed the rest of the series was like it and dropped it until the Witcher 3 about 2 years later. Played it enjoyed it, and decided to give a go doing the whole series to see what I missed. Picked up the first game again, played it for 2 hours, saw that I'd have to trudge through ~35 more hours of this and decided to skip to 2. The Witcher 2 was much better. I don't regret it at all.

Maybe I'll pick it up again in 2 more years and make it 4 hours in. At this rate I'll finish it within a decade

Something that disappoints me though is I don't feel like I got much of the extra context by playing The Witcher 2. I wanted to learn more about Yennifer and Ciri, and it turns out they don't show up at all until 3 anyways. The biggest thing I learned was the details of what went on with Philippa. It feels like everything else that happened in 2 had very little bearing on the world of 3
