Wait, so you're mad that the school has state enforced attendence requirements that actually have repercussions if you fail to follow them?

So you're saying "do what I want and still let me pass?" type argument? No way, my school had the same thing, I had a friend who was not going to school because he was 'sick' or 'wanted to watch a certian show that day' and the state sent defax to his house and threatened that if he didn't go to school then his parents would be fined and he'd get taken to foster care. Both his parents go to work at around 7am and got home at 6 and 7 pm.

He missed around 30 days almost consectutive before they came out and told him that. He had to make up his work and some community service to be able to stay in grade with us.

But all actions should have reactions, if you choose to sit at home because you're having an 'off day' try doing that in the real world when you have a job, or a family? That won't last long. High school is all about growing up, you should try it.
Nice to see what our schooling system taught you. Your argument is totally misconstrued and unwarranted, you say 30 days all together. Ok well that's a lot and it's 30 days all together but I have missed around 12 days through my entire school career and they were all legitimate reasons. I am not some careless moron who goes to school hacking up yellow flem onto peoples desks and or shitting my pants in a hallway. I never mentioned anything at all about an off day, I talked about how I missed my bus because I had no idea which one to take and when I tried to find the correct stop i failed. Just to be clear High school is not about growing up, if so there would be no rules about showing up. See why do you attend work, to get your job done, how do you usually do that? You accomplish this by going into work and doing your job. Let's say you go to work to do a job that you can do at home just as good and still please your boss with good work, then he is happy and you're happy. You may not fully understand this but I hope you get the gist of it. And in all reality school is just another place where they make a bunch of unique kids into the same damn drone that will never question anything in their life's.
Yes, you did say something about an off day. Cut the snobby crap, you're not better than anybody becuase you think you're 'too unique' for regular schooling. Yes, it is nice to see that our school system has taught Timberwolf how to properly use the english language, which seems to give you trouble. If you think your boss will allow you to do work from home, just because you say you can, you have another thing coming. Even if you can, you very likely won't be allowed. I find it hard to believe that you've only missed twelve days of school in your career, based on your grammar and punctuation skills.
If you think that high school squashes all the individuality out of people, you're kidding yourself. I know countless people who are still fiercely individualistic in thier senior year. If you needed to know where the school bus stop was, you should have looked into it yourself, instead of blaming the school for your lack of knowledge. It's not the schools fault that you didn't act quickly enough to get into the classes you wanted, it's yours. It's your fault that you have study halls instead of electives.
Stop using big word to try to make yourself seem smart. You've used a few incorrectly, and it clashes overtly with your poor grammar. There's this stuff called medicine, we use it to help us with small time health problems. You may want to look into it.
First of all this is an internet forum not an important essay. I know a lot of the rules in English but I'm not perfect, honestly I have never been taught grammar and what I have picked up were just things I found out from reading. Albeit I'm only 16 and I have not had a lot of practice with grammar there is no reason for me to disregard the rules of English. I'm sorry if my non perfect grammar skills on this forum have insulted you or made your life hard.
I'm sick of this excuse. It doesn't matter what you're writing, writing it correctly is a matter of courtesy. Write so that people can understand what you're saying, without having to run it through a broken-english translator. Cut the crap, Insulted me? Made my life hard? Cut the straw-man crap and address what I actually said.

I don't buy into the whole "I just had an off day, so I couldn't be arsed" thing. You have a responsibility for your own education. You want to clean public toilets? Skip. You want a proper job, and be able to choose your own future? Don't skip.

Here in Denmark, you aren't likely to get anywhere with only a high-school education, especially if your grades are bad.

OT: The system we have here, is that your teacher grades you on your overall performance in each subject for the year, in most cases a grade for your oral performance (lol) and your written performance. At the end of the year (tomorrow for me, incidentally) you are called up for random exams for the subjects that you are finishing. the grades from those exams will then override the teacher's grades. If you skip school for like, a month and a half, you are thrown out.

Works pretty well. Quite a forgiving system.
Good for you, but that has nothing to do with this topic. You said a month and a half, I have 6 days or 13 depending on the class. Usually I consider skipping a term for not showing up to class due to lack of interest or because you just want to stay home or walk around town. I'm glad your system is forgiving but mine is no where near forgiving.
Ah. Sorry, I think you misunderstood me a little, and I can certainly see why.

I completely agree that the system you have in Connecticut is less than desirable, and was posting the alternative system that we have here, which is more forgiving.

The schools here are all paid for with tax payers' money as well, so it seem kind of ass-backwards that the system here has more freedom. Oh, and doctors are paid by tax as well.

(I still don't think you should skip school for whatever reason, especially not because you just don't feel like it. School is a privilege.)

Missed my Bus, (First time taking it in morning due to having no other alternative mode of transportation to school) I had no clue where the bus stop was so I took a shot in the dark and I missed. Now I get sick now and then sometimes a stomach problem (the shits or throwing up) and I stay home, but the rule here is you can only miss 13 days in a full year class and 6 in a half year class. And if you want to stay home past that you need doctors notes. I'm not rich and I can't go to the doctors every time I feel down. Sometimes my problem is I just don't have the energy or just have an off day. The doctor would not be able to do anything so why should i waste my money bothering with mundane shit. (I know insurance but I don't have it) Why would a school enact such a stupid rule. It just hurts people, if kids want to skip they are sure as fuck going to skip. I know many of my friends from around the country can miss school almost as much as they want (they must make it all up) but they still can miss it. Why the hell would a school think this is a good idea?
If I miss the days I fail the class for the year.
Yeah I know the feeling - school is so badly run these days
