So I've just been browsing Tv Tropes and without realising it, I had highlighted a spoiler section that covered a huge event that occurs in "A Dance with Dragons", the fifth book of "A Song of Ice and Fire"......Unfortunately for me, I've only just started the fouth book, "A Feast for Crows".

I was lucky enough to not see "how", "why", "who"(aside from the one directly affected) or when but I've seen the "what" and I'm now quite pissed off that it got spoiled. Of course it was my own carelessness that caused me to spoil it for myself, I'm well aware of that. I'm still gonna read the series of course but the whole time now I'll be thinking ahead to what I know is going to happen.

So to you the people, I ask this question:
"What's something(A movie, book series, game series etc.) that you love that was then spoiled for you? Was it in fact someone who spoiled it, or did you yourself spoil it like my example above? Did it ruin your overall experience, or not even affect it at all?"

If you are going to actually mention the details of the spoilers, please try and keep them vague so as to avoid spoiling it for others.

This happened to me when I decided to read the bloody blurb of all things of A Feast for Crows while I was waiting in line to buy it along with both parts of A Storm of Swords. Right there. First line, massive bloody great spoiler. Thanks, publishers, thanks a bunch.

The people were so upset with the ending (and for some, this meant the entire game) that they were quite happy (metaphorically speaking) to just go into detail as to why it was bad. Without bothering to mention "spoilers" or to even stick to a ME thread. Since I saw enough of this I finally decided keeping away from it (as I was trying to do back then) was useless. So I went and watched the ending on YouTube.

Oh, yes, it ruined my experience. Thanks a bunch guys! I really appreciate being bombarded with information on what happens starting a mere day after the release of the product!

This happened to me. Didnt go watch it though. Ive got like 5 different instances of a little being revealed though so its probably ruined. Damn mass effect spoilers.

Like I said, I only know the "what" of what happens and it was a fleeting glimpse of the spoiler at that. If you've read it....please, no mas. I can't stand to know more of what happens.

Well back in High school I was eagerly going to see the film Sin City while my mates had watch it before it. One of the arses had told me the ending to Bruce Willis story. Needless to say I was pissed at him for a while.

So I turned it off and spent 15 minutes glaring at her until she realises and said "you hadn't seen it had you".

Yeah, I guess really the only thing that comes to mind is Mass Effect 3 and... well...

I'm kinda glad of it. When I learned that nothing I did mattered in the end, I resolved then and there that ME3 was not worth my time and money. I would not play it even for free. Why would I want to? If I wanted something that ended the same way regardless of my choices, I'd watch a movie or read a book.

I guess there's also The Walking Dead, but that mattered less to me than the ME3 ending. See, I was reading a forum thread (elsewhere) about it, and somebody mentioned that...

I was like, "lolwut? Great! I'm glad that happened! Now how'd it happen?" And then went to watch some more episodes.

Which of course, brings me to my particular view on spoilers: more often than not I don't really care that something happens, the point is how it happens or why.

Now, going back to my Walking Dead example, had you told me....

Definately ME3 here as well, the worst thing is that I didn't actually know what the ending was.

I avoided ALL the threads about it, but just seeing them coloured my expectations and perspective of the ending. I don't think I'd ever have been really happy with it either, but the sheer hate level made it hard for me to even finish the game.

Oh, that's just plain unfortunate. That fact hit me HARD when I got to it too, events like that are one of the reasons A Song of Ice and Fire is so damn good.

And my and a friend of mine, who were the two fastest readers in school, both got The Half-Blood Prince on release day, and read it at the same time, and it turned into a race. A couple of days later, while I was nearing the crucial part (And he'd obviously passed it), the first thing he said to me when we both got to school was "Dumbledore dies."

...That was by far the harshest spoiler I've ever gotten. Probably affected me so much because I was in late primary school still and Harry Potter was the most amazing thing in the world at that point.

This is pretty blunt and entertaining.

My friend spoiled the Hang Over 2 for me by telling me where they find the dude and I think that's the only time I was like WTF MAN. Just because I didn't get a warning lol

I figure if the movie was number one at the box office and it's been a couple years, spoiler warnings have expired. Books, unless they were massive sellers, are a bit different, since it can take a lot longer for word to spread. Finally, tv shows with big twists have a statute of limitations on spoilers once they're either off the air, or a season or two past the spoiler moment.

yeah..you just got to be careful, it sucks that it spilled out from ME3 threads

before I was annoyed at myself for fidning out "people didnt like the ending" but because of the shitstorm I would have had to avoided the itnernet entirly, so I got over that

in the end I did have anything spoilered for me...which was good (because I was extra careful)

We listened to everyones tale of a game and how it went and we didn't scream "SHUSH ASFJOFGNASNDAS"

I recently started watching Naruto from scratch, right when my friend started playing the latest Naruto Shippuden game. I'm like 160 episodes into the first series. So I waltz into his house one day to see him

fighting Pain, right at the part where Hinata jumps in front of Pain's attack, sacrificing herself to save Naruto. This is made more damaging by the fact that I had just told him that I was freaking in love with Hinata.

I flipped shit, though it was my own fault. I had to look up everything related to that incident just to get some perspective on what happened. Dammit man.

That's pretty much the only series that I've cared about spoilers about, just because I like the characters a lot. Everything else, I've always been the first person in my group of friends to complete it. I used to be "that guy" that accidentally spoiled things for everyone else.

I thought someone spoiled Fallout: New Vegas for me. I didn't know what the package your character was delivering or why it mattered, and a few days before the game's release I went to read a Rooster teeth comic, checked the comments and someone had made massive pictures stating that the platinum chip had codes for nuclear missles that people were trying to control. I wanted to reach in and strangle him.

Imagine my surprise when it turns out that wasn't the case at all... I didn't know if I should have felt happy or surprised.
