So in gamestation (in the UK) most shops have a "fun for a fiver" section. A section where all the second hand games are of course, five pound each. These games are usually old and I guess the shop is trying to get rid of them. But the section is great, i have bought so many games from it that i missed in the past, or was unwilling to pay a high price for when they came out.

Vanquish- was great, all, about the slow-mo and being over the top.

Fear- was fun, solid shooting and some great enemy AI.

And more recently, 007 quantum of solace. Back when the film/ game came out i just ignored it, its a film licensed game, so it must suck right? Well the reviews didnt help any either.

...Except the game is brillient. A very solid first person shooter, which has a great cover mechanic as well if you choose to use it. What really stood out was the weapons, they felt "punchy" and lethal. Even the pistols sounded like hand cannons. And the bonus? The excellant multiplayer is STILL quite popular five years later and SURPASSES the multiplayer in the recent goldeneye reloaded game. Chiefly because it has a better golden gun mode and a proper "classic" mode with weapon pick ups. I just wish it had splitscreen...

TLDR: The fun for a fiver section is great, letting you risk a little cash on games you wouldnt usually. If the game is good you have a bargain, if not... well you only burned a fiver so no harm done. Anybody else have tales of great games they found in the bargain bin?

Fallout 3 GOTY £4.99 (same as above)
Fallout New Vegas Ultimate Edition £5.99 - bit over a fiver but still a bargain (same as above)
WET - £4.99
Sacred 2 - £2.99 (not a bad game either)

My dad originally got FFX for me from a bargain bin. Not sure how much it was, but I'm sure it was cheap considering that it was at the rental section of a grocery store. That is my favorite game to this day.

I picked up the Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection for ten bucks. That thing has over 40 games in it, so I paid a quarter for each game. That's a damn bargain if I ever saw it.

I got Bioshock for 5$. Hated it, felt ripped off. Imagine if I'd paid full price. :(

I did get lots of great games too, of course. No shame in cheapies!

I paid ten dollars as well and the value is through the roof, which I now have to repair and re-tile.

I buy a lot of games at bargain price but I'll just list a few.

Crazy Taxi - $2
Half-Life - $3
Deus Ex - $2
Unreal Tournament 3 - $5
Fallout 3 - $5
I-Ninja - $1

I got it for 10 quid a few months ago, worth it for the streets of rage games alone! :p Then sonic, then etc.

Thats unfortunate. I got bioshock and halo 3 together for about £20. This was about 4 years ago. Bargain at the time :D

Digimon Card Battle for the PS1. I am a kid at heart, still love digimon. I personally have sunk over 100 hours into it over the years. I've also played Pokemon card battle on the gameboy, the actual card games of yu-gi-oh and magic the gathering. I can't really compare the games because I haven't played Digimon pvp, only against the computer. Can't explain why I like it except for nostalgia, but I think the fact that you can choose one of three attacks each turn- generally a powerful attack, medium attack and weaker attack with an effect is cool because your opponents spells can make it really risky to use your most powerful attacks.

I loved Gain Ground myself :D except I generally can't find anyone who doesn't lose their patience with it really quick.
