So in gamestation (in the UK) most shops have a "fun for a fiver" section. A section where all the second hand games are of course, five pound each. These games are usually old and I guess the shop is trying to get rid of them. But the section is great, i have bought so many games from it that i missed in the past, or was unwilling to pay a high price for when they came out.
Vanquish- was great, all, about the slow-mo and being over the top.
Fear- was fun, solid shooting and some great enemy AI.
And more recently, 007 quantum of solace. Back when the film/ game came out i just ignored it, its a film licensed game, so it must suck right? Well the reviews didnt help any either.
...Except the game is brillient. A very solid first person shooter, which has a great cover mechanic as well if you choose to use it. What really stood out was the weapons, they felt "punchy" and lethal. Even the pistols sounded like hand cannons. And the bonus? The excellant multiplayer is STILL quite popular five years later and SURPASSES the multiplayer in the recent goldeneye reloaded game. Chiefly because it has a better golden gun mode and a proper "classic" mode with weapon pick ups. I just wish it had splitscreen...
TLDR: The fun for a fiver section is great, letting you risk a little cash on games you wouldnt usually. If the game is good you have a bargain, if not... well you only burned a fiver so no harm done. Anybody else have tales of great games they found in the bargain bin?
