If you want an underated 80s horror movie try watching Lifeforce. Naked space vampires, zombies, the SAS, and Patrick Stewart.

Never saw it, never heard of it, but nobody can say no to a Sir Patrick Stewart movie! :D

John Carpenter's The Thing. Just make sure no one says "I've seen enough hentai to know where this is going to" or it will ruin the mood.

...Micheal J. Fox and the crazy FBI agent really sold this movie for me.
Special Agent Milton Dammers was played by Jeffrey Combs. Apparently he adlibbed many of his lines, and was given almost complete control over the character's personality and mannerisms. Combs had a lot of fun playing the character, and I think it really shows on-screen.

If you like Jeffrey Combs, he stars as scientist Herbert West in The Re-Animator (1985) which is pretty amusing too. And it's definite his performance that sells the movie.

Oh, he's the guy from The Re-Animator!? Wow! I didn't know :).
And that's another movie I've never completly watched. So, added to the watch list! :)

I'm more and more excited for my "watch stupid/fun horror movies" Halloween night! :D

Ha! As someone (almost) of an age with you, I know that feel. None of this fancy modern DVD freezeframe! Oh the days of pausing and trying to squint through the flickering jumpy static and dodgy tracking at a fuzzy low-res image of whatever treasure had been spotted. The days when pausing a film wasn't instant; it came with a brief delay, so timing was everything.

Those days sucked!
