Fun online pc fps to play?

Sup escapist. I've mainly been a "lurker" here for a few months or wutever. Just reading posts and not posting. And now I have a question. I need a pc online fps to play thats fun and competitive and all that jazz. I've played CSS and its pretty good but im not willing to put a bunch of time into being good. i've played warrock and thats pretty fun for a free online fps.

From some of the topics around.... people seem to think that team fortress 2 is pretty good. Is there another online fps thats better (preferably able to get off steam) or is it really that fun. I've had my fill of COD and halo 3 on my 360 so i want something different.

Frustrating, true, but God is it addicting.

Also there are a slue of mods to get... Zombie Master and Insurgency are my top two Source mods.

L4D1&2 Or Borderlands?
A focus on co op would be quite different.

Although I still recommend TF2 instead.

If you want free go for Quake Live, but if you didn't want to put the effort in with CS:S, Quake isn't going to hold you hand and spoon feed you either.

TF2 is pretty much mandatory.

Other than that, I'd say BC2 is also quite fun, in a completely different style.

I'd say those are definitely the 2 big titans right now.

Unreal Tournament. Its getting on a bit but it is still awesome. Fast Frantic and violent. Love it to bits.

I wouldn't get Tf2, apparently it is the worst fps ever. Oh wait that's on an X-Box.Get Tf2 and L4D2.

The most popular choice is TF2 if you can live with giving money to Valve on your conscience.
