Hello Escapists. I came across these wires in my Mom's house and have no idea what they are for other than a possible vague idea. I was hoping someone could identify them for me and give me advice on what I should do with them. Note that we do have some pretty old devices in our house that are still kicking(our newest desktop is still 5 years old and our newest video game console is 9).

Image on the left looks like parallel cables. Unless you have a super old printer, you won't need them.

For future notice, it's best to take a head-on image of the heads,

Note how there are 25 holes/pins.

The second one might be VGA cables, which are pictured
Note how there are 15 pins in the heads.

Regarding the second image, if there aren't three rows of 5 pins each, then it's likely a serial cable, which is pictured

Note how there's only two rows, 9 pins total.

I would keep the VGA, although you'll probably never need it again. When I throw something away, I usually need it the following day. Seriously. I once found a ridiculously long VGA extension cable, like 20 feet long, and was more than happy to add that to my laptop bag, which holds a collection of great goodies, like HDMI, VGA, DVI-D, analog cables--the works. I make space for it, forget about it, but have access to it when I need it, which I sometimes do!

I didn't think of that. Will do it if I need help again. Thanks.

The problem with the VGA is that one of the pins is missing on both ends. Will it still work properly?

I believe that's an older standard [http://www.cablechick.com.au/blog/everything-there-is-to-know-about-vga/]. I don't think it'll be an issue.
