I picked up The Onion's Our Dumb World today and I think it's the funniest book ever written, well, except the Bible (BOOM! There I go again! I'm so edgy!).

Here be an excerpt: Ireland - Blowing Their Pot O' Gold on Whiskey
After centuries of subjugation by the English and years of chronic poverty, the Emerald Isle enjoyed an incredible economic turnaround in the 1990s, and has at last managed to beat the stereotype of the poor, drunken, fighting Irishman into a bloody pulp.

Irish citizens are now allowed to purchase multiple cases of microbrewed beer each night, can afford to get into brawls at high-end clubs, and can easily pay for the the expensive dental work they invariably require every other Saturday morning.

That's not the funniest part, but I didn't want to spoil the funniest parts, 'kay?

Sorry, I forgot to include the question!

What is your pick for funniest book of all time?

I'm not sure what you really mean by funniest, but anyways I'd vote for nearly every book made by Roald Dahl, they are awesome and have a great sense of humor.

Well, since HHGTTG has been taken by a ninja in the night, I'm gonna have to nominate Good Omens [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Good_Omens], by Gaiman and Pratchett.

Hitchhiker's Guide will be the winner of this thread, but one I'd say is Cruel Shoes by Steve Martin which is just a collection of funny short stories he wrote in the late 70s I think

Most of Bill Bryson's stuff. I keep coming back to A Walk In the Woods, I'm a Stranger Here Myself, and I definitely want to reread The Life and Times of Thunderbolt Kid. They're just so goddamn witty, it's almost infuriating.
