There are many. Most get locked because people either post inappropriate pictures, or pictures that are too large. Thus, I would warn everyone that if they are going to post a picture, the image tags are:

There's no specific rule against them. They're discouraged, sure. But some can be rather successful (I can't think of a specific example off the top of my head, but I'm sure there have been some).

...though the title of "Funniest Pics" doesn't give me much hope for the fate of the thread...

I know the art competitions are usually really successful...those kind of count.

you're thinking of the epic pictures thread, I think the general reason why pic threads are locked is because people don't put them in spoilers, that's why the epic pictures thread was successful (I think). So anyone who posts in this thread, please put the pictures in spoilers if we want this thread to stay alive.
