Well shoot, I can't believe I forgot to mention Dragon Half, a show so funny they only made two episodes.

And one of the rare shows I actually prefer dubbed. Seriously, check it out, it's a hoot!

Also, My Dear Marie. Another very funny yet very short show.

Nope! It's an absurdist comedy series about a 10-year-old high school teacher full of pop culture references and satire. I believe it was actually aimed at kids. In fact, it's one of my brother's favourites.

The only one I've watched recently is Tenchi Muyo: GXP, and I'll recommend that.

I dunno, most every episode I found myself giggling like a school girl.

Right off the bat everything mentioned so far especially Kira Must Die's list.


Other than that Pani Poni Dash,it's goofy and fun and has the most pathetic little bunny who is funny as hell. Kind of like Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei(both are from the same studio,Shaft) was even more insane and with out the political undertones.


Baka to Test:Summon the beast,it has some action early on but becomes more of a slice of life comedy with an idiot protagonist.However ever he is not just you're typical idiot lead he is the idiot lead bar none.Everyone knows it and most of the comedy comes from that. Also fair warning, there is copious amounts of delicious trap fanservice to the point of parody.I haven't watched the second season but I've heard it's pretty good.

Irresponsibly Caption Tylor, a parody of the space opera genre where again the lead is a total lucky idiot. Very funny with the added bonus of trying to figure out if Tylor is really that stupid or a chess master extraordinaire.

Hidimari Sketch: to me the best of the cute girls do cute things genre.It's kind of hard to explain why it's so funny so just watch a few episodes to see if it's for you or not.


Finally The Slayers,it's a parody of your standard fantasy setting with occasional serious moments but it's usually just cracking jokes and taking the piss out of what ever tropes it gets it's hands on.Also surprisingly for a comedy it has a very fleshed out set of rules for it's magic system. Has very likable characters and the humor stays sharp for the most part. It has five seasons of anime,5 movies and a smattering of OVA's most of which are enjoyable(avoid the fifth movie Premium unless your a fan of nothing happening and find bad gay stereotypes hilarious).

Listen to this person. I was going to mention both Slayers & Irresponsible Captain Tylor myself.
Tylor is a *must* *see* in addition to the hilarity, it has the *most* *awesome* space battle *ever*.
Really. You will not believe it when you see it.

Also for zany humor, I *Love* Urusei Yatsura-The Return of Lum, but it is very dated, not everyone's
cup of tea.

I don't like dubbed anime. It's kind of like watching a James Bond movie in german..

for example i a post suggesting shin chan to you, that anime is completely remade, literally it was rewritten because the episodes are a decade old, they have become far better than the original so much so that the creator before he died , not only loved the episodes decided that there are officially 2 different shin chans because of it.

Wrong. Part of it's charm is the Japanese language, which I think is a funny sounding language, and that's why I decided to watch more comedy anime.
Please do not make assumptions based on stereotypical dolts that need to announce to the world how open to other cultures they are, for I am not one of them.

Like I mentioned before, it's like watching a James Bond flick dubbed in german.

I have to agree with this. All anime is dubbed when you think of it. A good dub in English is better than a good Japanese dub, but a bad English dub is easier to spot than a bad Japanese dub since I don't really understand Japanese to a high enough degree to make a difference.

OT: Seeing as most of what I would recommend already has been recommended my list is quite short.

However I would say YuruYuri for some absurd comedy.
There's also Love Hina which is hilarious.

I'm with fapper plain. Ouran Highschool Host Club is a brilliant, funny animé. I've watched it through a couple of times. Some romance, which is nice, but the comedy is great.
I want to watch it again now...

I have always been mostly into psychological and horror anime, but now I want to open up to more genres, starting with comedy.
So, what funny anime would you recommend? The story doesn't have to make a lot of sense, and I also don't mind a bit of nudity.

Angel beats is great. Watch it, laugh, cry, and then spend the rest of your life looking for something like it.

This, pretty much. I also found FLCL to be quite funny. SPice and Wolf also seems to be quite good, but I have only seen the first 3 episodes so far.
