Retrials can happen.
Yep. And he could also trip and break his arm, getting it infected and amputated. What does that have to do with his assault conviction? Nothing. Just like how the lawsuit getting dropped with prejudice means nothing in terms of his conviction.

What a retard.
Are you talking about RFK or the author of that piece?

Cause like...
In a sense, of course, he's totally right: people fall into addiction when they don't have any sense of opportunity in their lives, and prison tends to push the most vulnerable even further into self-destructive habits.

But RFK Jr.'s ongoing adulation of Trump — whose election caused the stock of for-profit prisons to soar as investors slavered over the mass incarceration of immigrants and other marginalized groups — suggests a man with very little depth of conviction.
The story here is that a long-time Democrat says they'd like a state-sponsored alternative to prison or rehab for drug addicts, including abusers of prescription drugs, and the author thinks the suggestion is "totally right", but because RFK is working with Trump, they apparently have no choice but to interpret it as forced labor camps

Adderall has been proven for people without psychosis to improve their energy levels. With people with a history of disorders with psychosis, it could increase the chance and likely frequency of psychosis.

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S016372582100142X

Source: This journal article, my ADHD, and of course.

Edit: Also, Dr. Charles Barkley.

But the real reason is he probably believes there are a lot of batshit alt-medications that don't work, or he wants ADHD people to get back into the fields and or digging ditches vs. getting high-paying white collar jobs when they can control their ADHD.

The author of the article totally misinterpreted this quote:
"Our kids are all on Adderall. They’re all on [anti-depressant] SSRIs. Why?" Kennedy told a podcaster March. "Doctors didn’t just start prescribing these for no reason. We have damaged this entire generation. We have poisoned them."

Then the author says:
Poison? That's a stretch — SSRIs are open to critique, and both Adderall and benzodiazepines are subject to abuse, but all three drugs unquestionably help many Americans live functional lives.

Kennedy isn't referring to Adderall as poison (as he said doctors don't prescribe it for no reason), he's referring to the poisons that cause the conditions that then require said drugs.

Oh yeah, the house passed HR 9495, a bill designed to let the executive branch shutdown nonprofits with basically no justification or recourse.

Plenty of democrats joined to pass giving Trump the power to shut down nonprofits he doesn't like with no oversight. This is being combined with a senate push to officially define antisemitism in very broad and vague terms. The clear intention is that democrats want a way to kill pro-Palestine support, but they're handing Trump the power to kill everything he doesn't like. Because democrats are not your friends.

I think I need to translate this one.

"No justification" = "the organization gave material support to state-designated terrorist organizations"
"No recourse" = "the bill legally mandates that any group effected be notified and given ample opportunity to denounce the terrorist group"
"Shutdown" = "lose non-profit status"

Yes, the intention is to disincentivize groups from giving their support to Hamas. Yes, the rules on what the government can and can't call "terrorists" are vague at best and could be exploited. The punishment is paying taxes on your profits. I have enjoyed watching the grifters who rake in millions in donations to do nothing of consequence freak out that they might have to pay some taxes. The Sunrise Movement in particular, a group whose raison d'etre is just campaigning for Democrats on the basis of climate activism, brings in millions in donations annually and spends the lion's share on salaries for themselves. They've spent weeks now spreading basically crimson's description of this bill because they are terrified of just the possibility of being told they either need to denounce terrorism or pay taxes on their profits. It is olympic-level telling on yourself when you can, in a single statement, implicate yourself in support for terrorism and state that having your "non-profit" charity taxed on its profits would be a crippling blow to you.

Churches have to pay too then?
The kind you are imagining, sure. The vast majority of churches here are small, work in the community, and operate on a shoestring budget. There could be a limit imposed on compensation from nonprofits where tax exemption is unwarranted, and churches could be included in that. Churches do pay tons of taxes already, there's nothing unusual about applying the same tax law to them as other nonprofits.

He's still wrong on vaccines, but I get your point.

Noted: Tstorm will carry water for unelected bureaucrats to act without oversight because he's a fan of big government. Take his conservative card.

People like Tstorm LOVE "big government" when its role is to force the rest of us to live how he thinks we should. By actual force, if necessary (or preferably).

The US budget blew out under Reagan, Bush and Trump and was yearly deficits were reduced under Clinton, Obama, Biden

US Conservatives have never wanted small government. They just want to shift priorities

They want to transfer wealth from the poor and middle class to the rich. The government is just their favorite mechanism to do so.

Totally true.

It's just unfortunate that they were replaced by conservatives (the Dems) who, at best, don't give out as much money which solves no problems.

And the worse scenario is they partially copy the GOP
