Instead of reporting and moving on, I felt there was scope for disscussion about scammers and scams in general. So, what funny/inept scams have you come across, and how do you deal with them?

It actually makes me feel a bit happy inside realising that this is the first scam someones tried to pull on me in a huge while, so long in fact i can't even remember what scams I've run into before, although I think I've encountered the Nigerian Royalty variant a few times now.

I love those, they're hilarious. They expect to be taken seriously, but the spelling and grammar is often atrocious. For some of 'em I've replied with fake info.

I once got an email that said the usual General blah blah millions blah blah, but one key difference was the death of a John Merrins in Africa.

I replied stating that John was my brother and he went missing, my family needed the location of where he was buried for closure.... i pestered this scammer day in day out till I got a reply.

About the only thing I got was an email telling me that my WoW account password had been changed (I had a trial account, never subscribed though) and that I should follow the link to the WoW homepage and log in to make sure that it wasn't a scam. Google Chrome flagged the site as a phising site, THANKS CHROME!

Well, Telemarketers aren't scammers, but it's fun to treat them like interactive scammers. Just screw with them. Throw the phone on speaker and keep asking for more details. Keep them on the line as long as possible. Then tell them that you actually thought the product was a joke when they first mentioned it, but just wanted someone to talk to. That'll piss em off.
