This is an official EUNOPF thread.

So, I hang about in the winter holidays, listening to my Very Scary Solstice album with Macrame Cthulhu, but every so often I wonder about the even-lighter-than-usual side of the winter season.

So, my little Escapists...and my big Escapists...and everyone else between, what goes weird in YOUR winter wonderland?

I, for one thing, have nature to rely upon. Come and see all the prints left in the snow in the area behind my house where there is a good section of wilderness. Cat, dog, big orange squirrel, rabbit, bird, deer, and - of course - the coyote. All this and it's still within Pittsburgh city limits and a lively neighborhood.

The road was closed again and again due to rain and storms. I doubt it was all that bad. A few trees fell down, no doubt, but it doesn't, or rather it shouldn't, take all fucking day to clear them. I can't wait until the roadworks that have been outside town for the past five years to finish, so we can get to the more important business of digging up the depth of the corruption in the Highways Agency. There is no way something like that should cost so much or take so long. Hong Kong Disneyland was built in five years.

So, yes, it was just rain this year. A lot of rain. Rain and pain. No snow, though, except for on top of the taller mountains, which is very strange. Perhaps in January we might see some...

Not much really happens here, we've had a lot of storms over the past two weeks though (UK) that has lead to a lot of flooding. It's also been surprisingly mild so far.

Anyway, normally when it snows everyone in my town goes up to the moor and snowboards down some of the hills. I really wish we could install a ski lift or something...it would make it a whole lot easier.

It hasn't snowed. It hasn't been windy. It's actually been pretty warm.... huh. I'm sure I'm not stuck in some kind of 4th dimensional lock, and yet it's more like a somewhat bipolar spring.

Up here in Chicago last saturday, it was 56 degrees. That's like, a rare sighting for us, and it felt great walking downtown in that weather.

Well, besides living in San Diego where the only noticeable snow is up in them mountains... uh...

I saw a truck spin out in a full 180 right after a traffic light turned green... and it wasn't even on one of the rare "rainy" days here...

It was too funny to be true the more I think about it... (I guess the dude was trying to test his "afterburners" or something...)
