FUSE: A discussion that is sorely needed.

So, where is your source of all this? Also, lets assume you are correct. EAs "programme" (its program, no idea where the other me is comin from) provides marketing yes? I can almost assure you that their niggling doubt that they couldn't find a way to finish it was an EA marketing retard going "Hey hey, this wont sell, hey this is too cartoony, hey hey you should make this more like call of duty HEY HEY HEY."

You could easily Google it and find out that FUSE is to be published through the partners program. You can look through the history to figure out that it;s unlikely that EA has the influence that you say they have.

EA Partners has published stuff like Death Spank, Brutal Legend, APB and Shadows of the Damned.

Seriously, EA, are you blind? Willfully stupid?

I'm fairly sure you completely just missed the point that it isn't EA's fault.

Mr.K. i see what your saying but the whole point of the partners program is that its not meant to be like the normal publisher relationship, there will still be things like milestones and ea would have some input on what content can end up in the game (things that are deemed too offensives). also ea is not the only people putting there money in to the game, insomniac is as well that's why its called co-publishing they are both putting money in to this game and there both equally invested in it but insomniac has the creative control over the ips they create under this deal.

I'm still very optimistic for FUSE. If I'd seen screenshots for Resistance 3 without knowing anything about it, I'd probably have dismissed it as another generic, brown shooter. It was anything but. Resistance 3 still stands as the single best single player portion of a shooting game I've ever seen. It was atmospheric, well paced, artistically beautiful, and consistently fun.You shouldn't dismiss a game just because it looks generic from the trailer. If anyone can pull something truly remarkable from a tired genre, it's Insomniac. I have faith in them.

Also, there's no reason to not buy a game just because it's published by EA...whether or not you agree with their practices, if we stopped buying things just because the EA logo was on the front, we'd have missed out on Dead Space, Dead Space 2, Mirror's Edge and the like.

Give this game a chance. Come release day, it may very well surprise you.

Looking at the sales of Insomniac games lately, I really doubt they're developing this with their own money. My guess is EA was providing the cash, Insomniac had issues, disputed milestones or whatever and they had to bend to some creative "suggestions" to not get dropped.

After all, if Free Radical taught us anything, it's that a contract with a publisher is only worth as far as you're willing to pursue it in court. For an independent studio with no alternate source of income, that's not far.

Or, hey, maybe I'm wrong. We'll see in the post-mortem.

I doubt EA really had a hand in this. They're just doing the partnership program, so they'd still be able to do whatever they want. Plus, Insomniac's a good developer with a good pedigree, they'd have the clout to do what they want.

I just don't get why they'd change the style. The game looks fun, but it's just so boring to look at now. Why couldn't they have kept the original style? I'd like a charming, fun co-op shooter over a super-serious co-op shooter.

Just sad to see. First trailer gave it some personality and charm. Now... it just doesn't feel like it's there to me. Just looks like any other shooter but with interesting weapons.

That's a rather unexpected move on the devs part, isn't it? To think the amount of people rebelling against the grey and brown aesthetics opposed to the more openly embraced saturated colors as of late it would at least get their attention. Then again, they appear a little more desperate then usual.

I don`t really care who`s responsible for the change. I`m just not interested anymore. Somewhere (IGN?) is a article about it. Word is Insomaniac had trouble combining the Overstrike style with gore but that`s a pretty weak reason to me.

I got a chance to play it a few weeks ago. The gameplay is certainly there, this is Insomniac after all, to the point of my own evil cackling of elation at melting a whole group of enemies. But I am superbly disappointed that all of the charm of that original trailer has been sucked out.

I'd like a charming, fun co-op shooter over a super-serious co-op shooter.

The market is oversaturated with charming, fun shooters. We need more grit. More grime! More grunting space marines in non-specific armor that's only differentiated from the enemy's by color! And more chest-high wall, while we're at it. There aren't nearly enough chest-high walls, or items that can function as chest-high walls. Too many games rely on fast pacing and racing around the battlefield, weaving in and out of enemy fire. We need to reel it back in because that's just too ridiculous for the studio who made Rachet & Clank. The player characters need to control like miniature tanks. It's the only way!

I find it hard to believe the studio that brought us Rachet & Clank and Spyro would have a hard time thinking of a wacky, zany story to accompany a heavily stylized shooter.

From what I played, which granted was a limited to a single section of a level and a boss fight, I got the impression it was dialed back. The developers have said it will have more of a dry humor now, where as the trailer is borderline slapstick.
