I was really looking forward to this:

Instead we got Fuse..... Stupid EA, you know the order to change it came from them.....

Actually, no, it was the game's creative director. It's been known for a while now -- the guy was even shown in a video all jazzed about it. He seriously was tone deaf to how the changes didn't work nearly as well.

Ill go back and play Mass Effect 3 again.Who did all of this more bigger and better. For frack sake come on with something new.

PS Way to positive review for something that generic
I played ME3... not the same thing. FUSE demo seemed far smoother and more loose IMO.

They changed the cartoony style that I absolutely loved into just another gritty piece of shit. Not interested.
All fun and cartoony just like Deus Ex right Mr.Jensen?

Joking aside yeah the old version was way WAY more appealing.

Ever wanted to kill someone with a black hole?
But... I already did that in such an obscure series as Ratchet & Clank [http://ratchet.wikia.com/wiki/Rift_Inducer]

Also with Mass Effect's singularity biotic power. Seriously, killing someone with a black hole is so last gen.

OT: This looks aesthetically like a cross between Vanquish and Mass Effect and yet doesn't appear to have the charm of either. Like many others here I was really excited for Overstrike; this just doesn't seem as fun.

The 2011 trailer sort of reminded me of No One Lives Forever which was humorous take on the James Bond spy flicks of the past, so color me excited when I saw it 2 years ago. Now the gritty redo just makes it seem like a gritty shooter which we already have plenty off. Nothing about it really stands out as far as I can see in the marketing material so I don't think this will go far.

At least with the original aesthetic it would have been more imaginative. I just don't get how after seeing the run away success of Borderlands that more developers aren't questioning the typical gritty realistic palette.

Also, is it on PC? No? Then I'm done here...

I know that it is petty of me, but I cannot get over how ugly this game looks, and it really drives away any enthusiasm I might have had for it.

You know, I think I'll get this game. It looks genuinely fun, and seems to have a competent story. That it's not "original" doesn't really bug me, as everything's derivative.

Still, games shouldn't be afraid to branch out into new stories and concepts. Furthermore, despite all the positives, and disregarding the negatives, I still see no reason to spend $60 on this game.

So yeah, gonna get it, but not until it's $20 - $30. I figure that's fair for yet another damn shooter.

Give me an RPG with 50+ hours of gameplay, my budget will go up. As it stands, 8-15 hours or less is not worth full price (and was all but unacceptable on last gen).

I gave the demo a try.
My opinion has nothing to do with the aesthetic, I'm fine with realism or silly cartoon-ishness, what I'm not fine with is controls that manage to feel both floaty, and clunky.

The camera just didn't feel very intuitive. I was always struggling to move it around to see what was ahead of me (or were I was running, since the camera doesn't snap to your face direction when you start to sprint)

Even after turning up the aim and camera move sensitivity all the way, it still felt very sluggish.

I have no principle issue with cover systems, but how it's handled i Fuse infuriates me greatly.
When you are literally spending more time hiding and staying in cover than playing the game, you're gonna lose me.

The upgrades kind of gave me some hope at the start, reminding me that Insomniac did make the game, but even in the demo it was easy for me to tell your skill points don't really mean much. It's the antithesis of how Borderlands 2 handles skills, wherein most upgrades are not just number bonuses, but visible changes to how you attack, take damage ect.

The one thing I will say about the game that could be a positive depending on your preferred game style, is it's not easy.
In the demo I was surprised to find the mech enemies actually CHASED me. Persistently.
Doggedly.

I hopped up over a window and hid in a building and watched the thing come right for me, completely ignoring the other squad members.

But I really doubt that will be enough to keep most peoples desire to play. Even the co-op is really really boring.

Egh.

Son of a *****. This is the first time I've seen that trailer, and having seen it I really want to play that game, and now I know that game will never exist. It's kind of depressing.

First I love how everyone assumes that the atheistic change in any way translated into gameplay change. It seems to me that overstrike would have been just as forgettable as Fuse, but annoying instead of generic. Second, I have said it before and I'll say it again: that original trailer was awful IMO and I don't see what people liked about it, the version we ended up with is horribly generic but the original was just pure pain.
