im sure your aware that the latest hardware is 3D and motion control which when combined will create a really immersive experience (if done properly and if you arent just playing games where you stroke a virtual dog)

i think the next step in immersion is virtual reality, something which actually puts you at the wheel of (what appears to be) a real racing car where if you crash you are unaffected. or a virtual battlefield where if you get shot you feel virtual pain but are automatically taken to the safety of the "real world" so you can spawn again. it would test your real life skills in a gaming environment but it means that sports games would be pointless because you could just play in real life.

obviously it would be difficult to create these worlds and there would be so many morale questions but i think it would be such a great experience to delve into these situations knowing you are safe (except maybe some virtual pain). i know this wouldnt happen in our life time but it definatly seems like the next logical step in gaming evolution

Frankly I'm just waiting for the motion control thing to die away. As 'innovative' as it is you cannot interact with a game anywhere near as well as you can with a pad full of buttons. Facial recognition and brain interface is the way of the future, the game industry should throw some money at that instead of relentlessly copying each other.

I agree. Motion controllers may put on a good show, but at the end of the day nobody wants to swing a controller around the room (well at least sensible people and those who play for long periods of time)

I'm also pretty sure that there are certain types of Facial Recognition software available for password purposes on PCs. All they would have to do is build off of that. Although I doubt they would, it would be interesting to see what could be done with it.
