I wonder what the American looks like.
It's a football player robot that turns into a boxer robot when it goes into its "hyper mode."

OP: You shouldn't watch it for funniness.

You should watch it for its sheer manly balls, its uninhibited hotbloodedness, its unbridled force of GAR.

Mobile Fighter G Gundamn was Gurren Lagann before Gurren Lagann was Gurren Lagann. It deserves your undivided attention and respect.
I couldn't have said it any better myself.
Also watch for Master Asia.

I found "neo"-germany.
The gundam looks all serious business, no lederhose to be found, but the pilot does "german ninjutsu".
German Ninjutsu
I'll let that speak for itself.

Do it. Doitdoitdoit. G-Gundam is brilliant, I don't care what anyone says. Anyone who has not watched it seriously needs to see it, if you like giant fighting robots or normal-sized fighting dudes.

Oh, and since no one's posted it yet, here's the American Gundam:

And this is what his super-mode looks like:

This is what you're missing.
Did they just jump-kick a building AWAY FROM A FLOOD?
I am sorry, but in a world where people can JUMP-KICK HOUSES, who ever thought he would need a GIANT ROBOT:
Asfar as I am concerned, the moment you are able to JUMP-KICK a house, the need for GIANT ROBOTS substantially lessens.
Well to be fair, they have to go out in space eventually.

Plus, Domon and Master Asia (I shit you not, that his name...well kind of) had prep time to kick said building. Trust me, those Giant Robots are needed.

There's also the Indian Gundam, which is a mecha cobra in a basket, with the pilot assisted by an actual giant snake.

It's often balls to the wall insane, but it's actually a pretty damn good series. I see it as one of the most enjoyable Gundam series. It has a decent story and great characters, and Master Asia is the most badass man in anime history (he fights giant robots with nothing more than a scarf, even Balgus didn't pull that off).

Also, Rain getting in the Trace System is legendary. "This is tight..."

I quit halfway through making a Shining Gundam conversion for one of my Warhammer 40k Tau Crisis Suits. Nothing over the top (which is ironic); just a couple of Sensor Spines from the tank accessories on the backpack. I think I might finish it now. Thanks for reminding me about it.

Ah yes, G-Gundam. What can you say about G-Gundam?

Well, pretty much that. Couldn't have said it better myself.

Who needs a giant robot? A cloth will do just fine.

G Gundam is what Gurren Lagann was trying and horribly failed to be.

I would recommend that you watch it, but it is not as political as the other Gundam series have been. It is a good series on its own, plus Master Asia is one of the best characters in the series. All the Gundams from that series are built to show off what the country it represents, and it just gets really funny and it is mostly Gundam v. Gundam.

Meh.

Haven't seen it but I'm willing to be that it beats Wing.
It does. But then again, most Gundam series beat Wing.

OT: LOOK! THE EAST IS BUUUUUUUUURNING REEEEEEEEEEED!
