So my English teacher is making us make a movie trailer for one of the books we read last semester, Most people are just acting in front of their webcam but I thought I might use G-Mod. This is my first time ever really trying to do something constructive with G-Mod and I'm going to have some car crashes and some general actiony stuff. I just need any basic but crucial pointers that you can give, Something that most people don't figure out on their own but is really useful. Thanks guys.

Well I can't help you with G-mod, but putting the video together? Use lot's of cuts if you're going for actiony. (If you aren't sure, a cut is when the view changes without a transition effect right to the next scene or something.) It makes it seem more energetic. :D You don't know how many people -don't- know that.

Yeah I'm actually a decent editor and I had planned on a lot of cuts from the begining of the car crash, I've already got Sony Vegas ready to go once I have all my footage

In addition to cuts, play with camera angles too. Having the same static angle is boring, going for a low angled shot makes the subject seem bigger and more powerful.
