This Steam guard better do what it says. And if they get by that, well I have no info on my account. Pre-paid cards FTW!

Still changed my password. Just to be safe.
My pre-paid card linked to my steam account has an entire....$15 on it right now.

Go nuts hackers.

Just logged into steam and found this message waiting for me.

could be the exact same people that hacked PSN. i mean, the hackers say they're from a group that doesn't seem like it's all that surprising to have hackers there, and the group says they had nothing to do with it. it's just a theory, it could be someone completely different, but maybe it's just a group that hates video games. the conservatives learned how to use a computer. damn, everyone's fucked now.

So Valve takes nearly a week to say that credit card information has been compromised and gets no flak for it while Sony does? The fanboyism here sickens me

...

Sony took several MONTHS to say it!

A but of a difference there...
April 19 - Sony learns of intrusion
April 26 - Sony issues statement that personal data was taken

Doesn't look like several months to me
Hah yeah. It's EXACTLY same time. Sony used those days to do the same thing Valve was, to investigate the size of the leak. But I guess fanboys want to proof that what they are fans of is always better somehow. Hm!

Password changed and CC details deleted. hopefully that's enough. i don't want to go to the bank again i was there yesterday
I feel a bit stupid... but how exactly do you do that?
Go to store-> your account (it's in the top right hand corner for me) then where it shows your balance, it will show what credit cards are stored and you can click delete on them.

"I got hacked and all I got was this lousy T-shirt" misc tf2 item, no doubt shall be what we get for this one.
That would be awesome! Valve would probably do that for kicks too.

This is exactly why you use Paypal.
Actually during the whole PSN hack debacle my PayPal account was used without my authorization. One email and 6 days later I had my money back so it wasn't a big deal. I can be but most people are just overreacting.

Why is it so easy to hack megacorporations in this manner?

You'd figure people would do this to the corporations that actually fucked people over. Like Wall Street.

Haven't used STEAM in like a year, actually redownloaded it on this laptop and was about to change my password untill I realised it was the forums not steam that was hacked.

Damn, this is bad to hear. Maybe everyone will shut the fuck up about Sony now though and realise it actually can happen to anyone.

Not only did I never use the Steam Forums, I didn't keep any information stored onto Steam.
But I changed my password anyway, just because I was still a bit paranoid.

Anyone else think that Dice dodged a bullet here by not having Battlefield:3 on Steam?

Nice of him to be honest and apologetic about the whole mess. Could use more of that kind of attitude when it comes to hacks.

Good thing I don't have a steam forum account. Plus I only use paypal to add funds to the wallet on the steam account then I buy the games that way.

Also steam guard ftw.

So let's see....

Sony, Steam...is there another gaming company that has access to millions of people's credit card information and also starts with an S?
