Any reasonably avid viewer of the Gadget Show (Channel Five, UK) will have no doubt been aware of the GadgetShow Live event in the Birmingham NEC. Myself and two friends were lucky enough to get tickets, and it was a fantastic day.
Among the things we saw were:
The Guitar Hero World Champion (a saddening sight, but impressive nonetheless).
Some of the world's top gaming teams, including Team Dignitas, playing Counter Strike all day. I don't know how they do it.
A television which was 9mm thick, An impressive sight.
All of the presenters, including the fantastic John Bentley.
And some incredible steel statues.
Another enjoyable experience was waltzing into the EA section and asking the staff there why they treated their customers like criminals. In case you don't get it, this was a joke, not intended to be malicious. We actually had quite a good chat with one of the guys (about the Burnout series, if you must know). We also had a look at some Bluetooth paper which sent what you were writing on it to a computer, which was hooked up to a very large screen. Thankfully I avoided the temptation of writing anything stupid, but my friend didn't and scrawled "The Cake Is A Lie!" in huge letters, to the bemused looks of passers-by.
We even ended up on the Gadget Show's Web TV section, though only for a very brief moment.
So, did anyone else here go along?
