Am I the only one pissed off with these constant pop-ups by Gaika offering "free" plays of often newly released games? All I want to do is post of the forums on here and every time it's a case of "PLAY THIS GAME! If you don't want to, click the little x button... but don't misclick even by a fraction or we'll force you to come to our site anyway!".

To whomever runs the forums, whoever owns Escapist or to whomever this concerns, please REMOVE this bullsh*t advertising!

I really hate the "press x to close ad, but god help you if you click the pixel to the left" advertising technique. If I didn't want to see your ad in the first place, and then made a conscious effort to avoid being exposed to it further or in larger quantities, then making it difficult not to do so is going to make me associate your brand with that frustration, not any kind of trust or loyalty that will improve sales.

Yeah, remove the ads. Or, actually, I'd suggest replacing them, since I'm not so dense to assume that The Escapist doesn't need the revenue. Just make the ads less painful to interface with.

I replied to another thread about how annoing those ads are. I did not realize that the ads prevent keyboard browsing, namely closing the window or tab with Ctrl+w. Which is _____ing annoying. Not to mention that they start lagging up 1.6GHz processors, at which mine runs while on power saving, quad core or not.

See, this is what I mean. I have no problem with them having ads... but using some sort of malicious coding to force the ads into our face is just a way to aggravate people and stop them wanting to stay on this site.
