The comparison to Cleopatra, an epic film whose reception stopped epic films from being made due to its failures at the box office, is one I've had in my mind a lot.
I'd be very surprised if it flopped, at most it might not be as profitable as they were hoping, but there's an army of kid who have been playing GTA online and they'll line up to buy it no matter what.
Thing is, for these companies, there is no difference between "not as profitable as we wanted" and flopping. If this was expected to make a billion dollars, and it only made $750 million, they'll look at it as "we didn't make $250 million".
