Man I miss this game.
I miss the idea of it, but not so much playing it anymore. Reinstalled the Remaster a couple weeks ago and damn it feels clunky and slow. Stamina runs out in a few seconds just running between encounters. Even Bloodborne is pretty mid ground in this regard, but still preferable gameplay-wise.

It’s one thing FROM has managed to do with each successive game is make the combat feel smoother and livelier, but the flip side is the bosses follow suit and do more physics defying bs attacks because where else is left to go with it after over half a dozen games.

Combat is something you definitely have to work around, but nothing will ever be as arduous as PS3 Demon's Souls. Playing Bloodborne and DS Remastered afterwards, in that order, felt like second nature.

I mostly just miss the sense of discovery I get whenever I play one of these for the first time. Even if every FROM game is functionally the same, nothing quite matches that sense of mystery and adventure when you're dropped in a new world without being given so much a sense of direction.

Then play Elden Ring. Not sure what if anything has been spoiled for you, but it's a massive open world with something tucked away everywhere. The graces point, but nothing stops you from going wherever you want, and there's tons to be gained going off the beaten path.

Clickout Media, Owner Of The Escapist, Pivots To AI, Holds Mass Layoffs - Insider Gaming

I took a glance at the main page for once, to see if it was entirely covered in gambing promos, and found that No, they actually are producing legitimate journalism. Like interviews and discussing upcoming releases.

Reading them, they felt more promo-oriented than critical than I would've liked, but still.

I wonder if this will affect these forums.

Yeah they started making real content about 6 months ago or so.

We had a pretty rough patch in the forum with bots swarming the place for awhile, now that might be coming back, but officially.

Never heard this story -
Oh, it's infamous. Sega made some dumb mistakes before this, but this just completely killed any and all momentum they had and lost them a lot of goodwill. It was basically to Sega what the 2013 E3 Xbox One presentation was to Microsoft. There's actually a fair few parallels between Sega's path and Microsoft's.

Honestly, lots of parallel between it and Sony PS3 era too. The "do well to shit the bed" cycle is pretty well established in console generation.

Sadly now that Sony has no competition, I fear they're going back to that PS3 era cocky garbage that caused them to shit the bed in the first place.
